    • A lightweight, four stroke engine includes a crankcase enclosure and at least one piston assembly disposed within the crankcase enclosure. The piston assembly cooperates with the crankcase enclosure to provide an internal pressure to the crankcase enclosure which varies between a positive and a negative pressure. An air intake assembly is operatively coupled to a first section of the engine and the crankcase enclosure, the air intake assembly including at least one air conduit configured to provide non-combustive air flow from the first section of the engine to the crankcase enclosure of the engine. At least one valve is disposed within the air intake system, the valve being configured to restrict air flow from the crankcase enclosure when positively pressurized and to allow airflow into the crankcase enclosure when negatively pressurized.

    • An engine operated working machine includes an engine and a working machine to be driven by the engine surrounded by a soundproof case. An exhaust compartment housing a muffler is formed in the soundproof case. An exhaust pipe connected with the muffler is bent in a direction so as to direct exhaust gas discharged therefrom away from an exhaust air opening of the exhaust compartment and has an opening positioned apart from the exhaust air opening. Cooling air forced into the exhaust compartment flows around the muffler and the exhaust pipe to cool them. Exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust pipe into the exhaust compartment is mixed with the cooling air to change a discharging direction thereof and is then discharged outside of the soundproof case through the exhaust air opening.

    • A portable, hand-held concrete vibrating system employs a pendulous vibrator driven by a high speed, two-cycle motor that operates up to speeds of between 5000 and 6000 RPM. An elongated, rod-like frame supporting the motor is connected at its remote end to a vibrator head adapted to be immersed in plastic concrete. A pivoted weight generally coaxially disposed within the head forcibly causes vibrations in response to internal impacts. A compensating system within the head torsionally couples the flexible drive cable to the pendulous weight and accommodates axial and rotational stresses caused by high speed rotation. The compensating system, preferably disposed between sets of self aligning bearings, comprises a rigid power input end coupled to a rigid power output end by a resilient, preferably buna rubber midsection. The pendulous weight extends from a pivotal connection at the power output end of the compensation system to an integral, unbalanced, generally conical impact end, the side profile of which forms an angle of approximately 1.0-1.5 degrees with reference to the longitudinal axis of the vibrator head.
