摘要： A method for selecting a data stream for distribution to a plurality of broadcasting sites. The method includes: receiving a main data stream and a back-up data stream respectively, generated by a main broadcast gateway and a secondary broadcast gateway respectively, from source data, called a main stream and a secondary stream respectively; receiving at least one packet including a piece of information representative of a quality of service associated with the main stream and the secondary stream respectively, at one instant at least or over one given period at least, the at least one packet, called a main current packet and a secondary current packet respectively, being generated by the main broadcast gateway and secondary broadcast gateway respectively; and selecting in real time the main stream or the secondary stream respectively in taking account of the main current packet and secondary current packet, delivering the data stream for distribution.

摘要： A system (1000) is disclosed including a resource allocation optimization (RAO) platform (1002) for optimizing the allocation of resources in network (1004) for delivery of assets to user equipment devices (UEDs) (1012). The RAO platform (1002) determines probabilities that certain asset delivery opportunities (ADOs) will occur within a selected time window and uses these probabilities together with information concerning values of asset delivery to determine an optimal use of asset deliveries. In this regard, the RAO platform (1004) received historical data from repository (1014) that facilitates calculation of probabilities that ADOs will occur. Such information may be compiled based on asset delivery records for similar network environments in the recent past or over time.

In some embodiments, a satellite communications method is provided that comprises receiving, at a satellite and from a plurality of user ground terminals, a plurality of source signals, wherein each of the source signals are modulated according to at least one source modulation method, and further receiving, at a satellite and from a plurality of user ground terminals, a plurality of information signals corresponding to the plurality of source signals. The method further includes combining, at the satellite, the plurality of source signals into a combined source signal with an overlapping bandwidth, wherein each of the source signals are further modulated according to at least one predetermined modulation method before they are combined, and transmitting, by a downlink transmission from the satellite to a gateway ground station, the combined source signal.

In some embodiments, an electronic device may operate in either a “play mode,” which allows a user to listen to songs in a normal fashion, or in a “preview mode,” which may be used to provide previews of songs to a user in succession. In some embodiments, the electronic device may seamlessly transition between play mode and preview mode. For example, the electronic device may pause a currently-playing song when the mode of operation switches from play mode to preview mode so that, if the user exits out of preview mode, the original song may be resumed from the pause point. In some embodiments, the electronic device may provide a multi-directional visual interface that allows a user to control the succession of previews provided in preview mode.

The broadcast operation channel management system generates a second allocation chart for the broadcast system with a second effective time. The broadcast operation channel management system communicates at least a portion of the second allocation chart to the plurality of broadcast system components. The plurality of broadcast system components operates with the second allocation chart when the local time is equal to or greater than the second effective time.
