摘要： In a digital filtering device adopting wavelet transformation, a memory occupancy level of processed data is decreased. An image is divided into a plurality of first blocks each consisting of W pixels by H pixels. Wavelet transformation is performed on each of the first blocks in order to produce sub-frequency band blocks LL, LH, HL, an HH. Sub-frequency band blocks LL produced from the first blocks are grouped in order to produce second blocks having the same size as the first blocks. Wavelet transformation is performed again on the second blocks.

摘要： An encoding apparatus and method prevents image deterioration generated by repeatedly performing encoding and decoding by using a quantization matrix for quantization which is different from a quantization matrix for inverse quantization. In the encoding apparatus, a matrix selector selects a first quantization matrix in accordance with the complexity of an encoded picture pattern, and supplies a quantizer with information on the selected first quantization matrix. A matrix unit rewrites, by information on a second quantization matrix, the information described in an encoded stream output from a variable length code unit so that a quantization matrix to be used for inverse quantization is a second quantization matrix different from the first quantization matrix.

摘要： The invention describes a wavelet compression method for colour converted image planes (Y, Cb and Cr), wherein a relatively low (e.g. zero) degree of compression is performed in areas of an original colour image having relatively higher importance, a relatively higher degree of compression in those areas indicated to be of lower importance. It performs a hierarchical encoding of a reduced wavelet image by discarding wavelet coefficients which satisfy the two criteria of firstly corresponding to image areas of relatively lower importance and secondly being below a certain wavelet coefficient threshold. The wavelet coefficient threshold is determined from a calculation histogram to remove a percentage of the image and can be specified as an input parameter by a user.

摘要： A display data compression method can execute both irreversible compression and reversible compression, wherein display data are divided into a plurality of two-dimensional blocks, each of which is subjected to compression. In the irreversible compression, display data of each block are subjected to discrete cosine transform, quantization using a quantization table, one-dimensional rearrangement, and Huffman coding using one-dimensional Huffman table. In the reversible compression, display data of each block are subjected to scanning and compression, which are repeatedly performed by changing the scanning method therefor, so as to produce compressed data having the smallest number of effective bits. In expansion, the compressed data are decoded so that the decoded data are combined together over the blocks, thus restoring the original display data.
