    • A method for transitioning across multiple radio access technologies is provided. The method comprises associating a first base station identification with a first radio access technology and associating a second base station identification with a second radio access technology. A co-layered relationship is then established between the first base station and first radio access technology and the second base station identification and second radio access technology and stored in a storage device, such as a memory, using the base station identification. The mobile device then searches for the co-layered relationship using the base station identification as a key and then retrieves the stored co-layer relationship. Once the mobile station has retrieved the stored co-layer relationship it utilizes the co-layered relationship to transition from the first radio access technology to the second radio access technology.

    • Methods, systems, and devices are described for concurrently performing handoff-related measurements for neighbor cells using multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna resources. In one example, a mobile device is in communication with a serving cell. Handoff-related measurements of first wireless signals from a first neighbor cell are performed. The first wireless signals are received at first MIMO antenna resources of a device. Handoff-related measurements of second wireless signals from a second neighbor cell are performed, as well. The second wireless signals are received at second MIMO antenna resources concurrently with the first wireless signals received at the first MIMO antenna resources. The first handoff-related measurements and the second handoff-related measurements may be performed during a scan interval. A type of handoff-related measurement to perform may be determined based on a determined length of the scan interval.

    • Handover processes in multi-carrier carrier time division-synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) systems include a two-step handover process. When handover of a user equipment is warranted, a hard handover is performed within a source cell of the system from a first frequency to a second frequency. A baton handover is then performed from the second frequency at the source cell to the second frequency at a target cell. In another aspect, a user equipment receives an assignment of an uplink time slot at a target cell that was selected to prevent the uplink time slot from being proximal to a downlink time slot of a source cell. The user equipment then performs the inter-frequency baton handover using the uplink time slot.
