摘要： The present disclosure provides methods for modifying and cross-linking polybenzimidazoles, PBI. In one embodiment, the polybenzimidazole reacts with a compound, which has a halogen and a double bond functionality and which comprises a halogen and an organic group to form modified polymers by means of a nucleophilic substitution of the amine proton of the benzimidazole functionality in a solution, and a functional group is connected via each resulting free double bond and/or the polymers that are thus modified are cross-linked.

摘要： A family of new and novel molecules for mechanically superior two-dimensional (2D) polymers is described herein. By combining stiff carbon-containing cyclic polymer nodal units with more compliant linear polymer bridge units in an ordered, 2D repeating molecular structure it is possible to tailor the mechanical properties of 2D polymers and their assemblies to provide high stiffness, strength, and toughness. Furthermore, the inherent dimensionality of 2D polymers and their ability to be stacked into ordered and chemically interactive ensembles gives them inherent benefits in a variety of barrier and structural applications over current stiff and strong linear polymer technologies.

摘要： A polymer ion exchange membrane for acidic electrolyte flow battery. The membrane is nitrogen heterocycles aromatic polymer, especially polybenzimidazole type polymer. A nitrogen heterocycles in the membrane interact with acid in the electrolyte to form donor-receptor proton transport network, so as to keep the proton transport performance of the membrane. The preparation condition for the membrane is mild, and the process is simplicity. The preparation method is suitable for mass production. The membrane is used in acidic electrolyte flow battery, especially in vanadium flow energy storage battery. The membrane has excellent mechanical stability and thermostability. In vanadium redox flow battery, the membrane has excellent proton conduct performance and excellent resistance to the permeation of vanadium ions.

摘要： A composite membrane that can be used as an electrolyte membrane of a fuel cell is produced from a resin material that contains at least polybenzimidazole and from a composite material that is produced from of hydrogen sulfate and heteropoly acid. The composite membrane has a basic structure of an aromatic hydrocarbon that does not contain fluorine and has good efficiency, even at a low doping level, so it can be used for the electrolyte membrane of a medium temperature dry fuel cell. Phosphoric acid is doped into the composite membrane. Characteristics of the relationship between output current density and output voltage for an electrolyte membrane that is made from the created composite membrane (a specimen 4) are better than for a specimen 8, in which the amount of phosphoric acid doping is equivalent.

摘要： The invention concerns processes for forming polymer crumb comprising residues of 2-(4-amino phenyl)-5 (6) amino benzimidazole (DAPBI), paraphenylene diamine (PPD), and terephthaloyl dichloride (TCl), comprising the steps of: i) forming a slurry of b mole percent DAPBI in a solvent system comprising organic solvent and c weight percent of an inorganic salt, wherein the inorganic salt is present in an amount of at least 5 weight present of the organic solvent; ii) contacting the slurry with a less than stoichiometric amount of terephthaloyl chloride to form an prepolymer solution; and iii) contacting the prepolymer solution with y mole percent of PPD and additional TCL to form a polymer solution; wherein the total amount of TCL added in steps ii) and iii) is a stoichiometric amount based on the total amount of DAPBI and PPD added in steps i) and iii); the DAPBI and PPD are added in an amount sufficient for providing a polymer solution having a weight percent solids of 12 percent or greater on a polymer basis; and wherein the sum of y+b is 100 and the product of b×c is 225 or greater.
