    • A symbol error detector can be configured to detect symbol errors of a Bluetooth enhanced data rate (EDR) packet without relying solely on a CRC error detection mechanism. After a phase of a current symbol is demodulated to determine a demodulated current symbol, the phase of the demodulated current symbol can be subtracted from the phase of the current symbol prior to demodulation to yield a phase error. The phase error can be compared against a phase error threshold to determine a potential unreliability of the demodulated current symbol. The phase error being greater than the phase error threshold can indicate that the demodulated current symbol may be unreliable. Accordingly, a symbol error notification can be generated to indicate that the demodulated current symbol may be unreliable.

    • An outcome of a dice throw and an orientation of the dice can be randomly determined. Based on knowledge of the outcome of the dice throw and the orientation of the dice, die faces that face the player at a beginning time instant of the animated motion can be back calculated. The dice can then be accordingly constrained to a selected one of a number of predefined animations for the dice to efficiently generate a more realistic and accurate graphical representation of the dice throw on the wagering game machine. Such a technique for generating the graphical representation of the dice throw based on 3D modeling and physics of the dice throw precludes managing and maintaining texture maps. Also, the graphical representation of the dice throw can be presented without texture swapping and with less computation because the pre-modeled dice are constrained to the selected animation of the dice.

    • This disclosure presents checking file system consistency for a storage server. During a start up phase of a file system, a consistency checker, upon receiving a request from an internal client for a part of data managed by a file system of the storage server, checks file system consistency only for a part of metadata. The part of metadata is used to maintain consistency of the requested data. After the consistency check of the part of metadata is completed, the internal client is allowed to access the requested data before a remainder of the metadata is checked for consistency.

    • A receiver unit of a communication device can employ multiple correlators for decoding the access address of a packet received from another communication device. A dynamically determined primary frequency offset is applied to a phase difference signal that is determined from an RF signal that comprises the packet. For each of a plurality of access address decoding chains of the receiver unit, a secondary frequency offset associated with the access address decoding chain is applied to the phase difference signal, the phase difference signal is correlated with a predetermined access address of the communication device, and a resultant correlation output is compared against a correlation threshold. One of the access address decoding chains that generated the correlation output that is greater than the correlation threshold is selected and the packet is demodulated based, at least in part, on the phase difference signal corresponding to the selected access address decoding chain.
