    • A computer data center system includes stacks of computers, each of the stacks computer motherboard assemblies arranged vertically with respect to one another, a first row of stacks, the row defined by stacks arranged adjacent to each other in a horizontal line of stacks, and a cool air supply plenum adjacent to the first row of stacks. The cool air supply plenum supplies cool air to a first side of the first row of stacks for cooling computers placed in the stacks, and has a longitudinal axis substantially parallel with an average air flow of cooling air in the plenum. Computer assemblies in the first row of stacks include portions that are closer to the longitudinal axis of the cool air supply plenum than other portions of the same assemblies, or portions of adjacent computer assemblies that are closest to the longitudinal axis for the adjacent assemblies.

    • A system for cooling air in a data center includes a data center having electronic equipment in operation, a cooling water source, and a plurality of on-floor cooling units. The cooling water source is configured to retain at maximum capacity a total amount of water. Each on-floor cooling unit is configured to cool air heated by a portion of the electronic equipment in the data center using water from the cooling water source. The total amount of water is insufficient to maintain a leaving air temperature of each on-floor cooling unit below an inside setpoint when a temperature outside of the data center is above a predetermined external temperature.

    • A Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver employs variable spacing of Doppler offset bins and code offset bins when acquiring a P(Y) code, to improve signal acquisition characteristics with respect to a search region having a plurality of Doppler offset bins and code offset bins. The receiver includes an acquisition module in which an input signal representative of a received P(Y) code is received and applied to a first programmable rate mixer. An output of the first programmable rate mixer is applied to a combiner, which selectively combines samples of the input signal based on a control input to dynamically determine the spacing of the code offset bins. An output of the combiner is normalized and applied to a correlation unit, which generates correlation measures of the received P(Y) code and a locally generated P(Y) code. A signal representative of the correlation measures is applied separately to each of a set of programmable rate mixers and mixed with separate mixing signals. The spacing of the Doppler offset bins is dynamically determined by controlling the rates of the mixing signals.
