摘要： Disclosed is a system and method for enabling personalized shared mobile phone usage when accessing data services within a wireless telecommunications network, including an illustrative example application of the invention as it relates to mobile subscribers who cannot afford a mobile phone handset in emerging markets. For instance, a prepaid wireless subscriber can have a personal phone number associated with their own billing account, which can be used to access data services on a wireless network without needing to purchase any hardware, such as a mobile handset or SIM card. Thus, the subscriber may access his account and use data services through a borrowed handset.

摘要： Embodiments enable data usage plans and data usage statistics to be shared among user computing devices. In some embodiments, a web service receives a schema populated with data describing the data usage plan from a mobile operator. The web service distributes the populated schema to the user computing devices, and subsequently distributes updated portions of the schema as the data usage plan is updated by the mobile operator. The web service may also collect the data usage statistics from the user computing devices and the mobile operator, reconcile any differences, and send synchronization notifications to the user computing devices based on the reconciliation. In some embodiments, users are able to view bandwidth consumption by a plurality of user computing devices sharing the same data usage plan.

A current basis for computing usage charges over one or more networks may be made available to the cost-aware application components through an application programming interface supported by an operating system service. Based on this information, the service may determine a current basis for charging for data usage. With this information, the application component can determine a manner for executing network operations that involve data transmission over the network, such as deferring the operation or selecting an alternative network.

摘要： Methods and systems for managing resource usage of a mobile device based on a resource threshold of a wireless communications network. A resource policy is received from a mobile device. The resource policy indicates that a network resource manager associated with a wireless communications network is authorized to use the resource policy to control the resource usage of the mobile device to support a resource threshold level of the wireless communications network. The wireless communications network is associated with a service provider of the mobile device. It is then determined that the wireless communications network has met the resource threshold. Upon determining that the wireless communications threshold has met the resource threshold, the resource usage of the mobile device is limited using the received resource policy of the mobile device.
