    • A machine for delivering a product which may be automatically personalized by a customer at the time of purchase is disclosed. The product may be selected from a plurality of different types of products which may communicate in a plurality of media such as print, braille, or audio or video tape. The machine stores base products which may be modified to communicate in a plurality of media. Product handling means effects a series of operations including transfer of a base product from storage. Electrically controllable modification means effects modification of the base product to produce a modified base product and electrically controllable delivery means effects delivery of the modified base product. An enclosure contains the storage and product handling means therewithin. The apparatus further comprises payment means operable by a customer on the outside of the enclosure to effect payment for a product and selection means operable by a customer on the outside of the enclosure to effect entry of control data which defines the customer's selection of the media form of the base product and modifications to be performed of the selected media form to define the desired final form of the personalized product to be delivered to the customer.

    • An insulated, decorative hot drink cup for hot coffee or the like is provided which can be grasped and drunk from without fear that the user's fingers will be burned. The cup includes an inner, integral, synthetic resin cup member having a series of spaced, exterior, longitudinally extending, triangular in cross section ribs on the sidewall thereof, and an outer decorative paper overwrap permanently applied over and in contact with the ribs. This structure defines a series of discrete, juxtaposed, dead air chambers or cells in the cup assembly sidewall for maximum heat insulation, and the thermally minimal, essentially line contact between the rib apices and overwrap enhances this effect. An uppermost circumferential bead formed on the cup member provides a further seal and prevents passage of liquid between the overwrap and member sidewall.

    • A novel and improved method of controlling the quality of color fidelity in the printing of multi-colored subject matter is provided by novel and improved automatic densitometer apparatus adapted to automatically scan the successive differently colored blocks of a color control strip printed along one edge of the printed work piece, to automatically make repeated sensings of color density as the scan proceeds, to automatically change the filters required for sensing the density of different colors as the scan proceeds along the control strip, to automatically activate the apparatus for selecting one sensing of color density as being definitive for each relevant block of the control strip, to automatically print a running record of the definitive color densities sensed from different blocks of the control strip in format juxtaposing the item of the record for each such sensing with the corresponding block of the control strip when the record is placed alongside the control strip, to automatically position such record during scanning in appropriate juxtaposition alongside the control strip so that the densities being recorded can be conveniently checked even during the scanning of a remaining portion of the control strip, and to automatically control the progress of the scanning and the occurrence of the other aforementioned functions in response to changes in the color densities being sensed on a continuously iterated basis as the scanning proceeds. The method and apparatus are applicable to multicolor printing involving various numbers or selections of colors.

    • An easily fabricated, yet extremely sturdy packaging filler divider for merchandise display of cartons or the like is provided which includes an elongated, tubular body with a central reinforcing sheet therein having marginal flaps extending oppositely from the sheet and connected to opposed internal sidewall portions of the body; by virtue of this construction fabrication costs are drastically reduced since the filler can be produced from a single, continuous sheet of paper stock using completely automated equipment with only two simple folds being required, and moreover the resistance to crushing or other deformation of the filler is greatly enhanced. In preferred forms, the filler is fabricated from an initially flat, precut paper blank such that the finished divider can be folded to a flat storage position when not in use.
