摘要： An electrochemical battery cell in accordance with the invention has a high electrode interfacial surface area to improve high rate discharge capacity, and the shapes of the electrodes facilitate the manufacture of cells of high quality and reliability at high speeds suitable for large scale production. The interfacial surfaces of the solid body electrodes have radially extending lobes that increase the interfacial surface area. The lobes do not have sharp corners, and the concave areas formed between the lobes are wide open, to facilitate assembly of the separator and insertion of the other electrode into the concave areas without leaving voids between the separator and either electrode.

An electrochemical cell has a can with a closed bottom end and an open top end, positive and negative electrodes disposed in the can, and a collector and seal assembly disposed in the open top end of the can for closing the open top end of the can. The collector and seal assembly includes a current collector and an annular seal that move relative to each other from a sealed position to a vented position when the internal cell pressure reaches a pressure threshold to vent pressurized gases.

摘要： In an alkaline dry battery according to the present invention, a film comprising epoxy adduct polyamide amine having an amine value in the range of 150 to 500 is arranged between a negative electrode current collector and a gasket. Since the epoxy adduct polyamide amine is water-soluble, there is no need to dissolve the epoxy adduct polyamide amine in an organic solvent to form the film comprising the epoxy adduct polyamide amine. Further, the resulting epoxy adduct polyamide amine film is highly resistant to electrolyte leakage.

摘要： An ionically permeable separator for a LeClanche cell, and methods of making and using same, are provided for in the invention. The separator comprises a Kraft paper separator and a corrosion-inhibiting coating thereupon selected to prevent corrosion of a zinc anode of the LeClanche cell. The separator may be configured for use in round or flat LeClanche cells. The separators of the invention may be used in heavy duty batteries containing an electrolyte comprising zinc chloride as a primary component. Cells made in accordance with the invention exhibit comparable or improved capacity and other performance characteristics in respect of conventional cells.
