    • An electro-acoustic transducer of the moving coil type, which includes a driven unit including a drive coil, and a magnet unit including a magnet and two pole-piece so located as to define an annular air gap in which the coil is located. The driven unit further includes a substantially circular central portion whose outer periphery is secured to the coil, and an outer portion whose inner periphery is secured to the coil and whose outer periphery is secured to a member of said transducer, which contains said magnet unit at a flat face of the member. The transducer member is substantially cylindrical. A flat cup-like member of larger diameter than the member is secured to the flat face. The driven unit also includes a cone whose inner periphery is secured to the coil and whose outer periphery is secured to the outer rim of the cup-like member.

    • A loudspeaker allowing snap-together assembly and extensive use of plastic is provided. The magnet is substantially enclosed between a molded plastic basket and a threaded cap, and the magnet clamps the spider which centers the voice coil in place. The base of the cone of the loudspeaker is frictionally held between the basket and a clamping ring. The electrical connection between the voice coil and the input terminals includes conductive strips formed of conductive ink upon the spider. The conductive strips are soldered to the leads of the voice coil and are joined to the input terminals by pressure contacts of a terminal strap which is snapped in place in the plastic basket. A grille subassembly for mounting within the basket of the loudspeaker is provided to permit snap-together assembly of multiple loudspeaker systems. The electrical connections between the loudspeakers of the multiple loudspeaker system are made at final assembly by the terminal strap. A novel grille and support arrangement for the smaller speakers, as well as a novel positioning ring for the magnet assembly, are also disclosed.

    • The disclosure relates to a ring armature electroacoustic transducer adapted for use as the receiver for telephone sets and for other purposes. The exemplary embodiment comprises the following elements coaxial about a common vertical axis: (a) a cylindrical ring permanent magnet (15) of Fe-Cr-Co material, (b) an annular disc upper pole piece (20) seated on magnet 15 and having at its inner margin a downwardly salient annular boss (30) providing an upper pole tip, (c) a lower pole piece (35) providing an annular lower pole tip (37) and aflange (36) coupling such tip (37) to the bottom of the magnet, (d) an armature support (40) within the magnet (15), (e) an annular disc armature (50) seated on the support (40), (f) a diaphragm (60) on the armature (50), and (g) a terminal plate (45) supporting such elements.     • A voice coil assembly for a speaker comprises a substrate, a spiral pattern coil formed on the substrate, at least one holder fixedly secured to the periphery of the substrate, and at least one metallic layer attached to said substrate. The metallic layer facilitates the dissipation of the heat generated by the voice coil, while a pair of metallic layers establishes electrical connections between the voice coil terminals and external terminal strips. The shape of the opening of the holder(s) may be made other than rectangular for avoiding the occurrence of standing waves which cause the frequency characteristic of the speaker to be deteriorated.

    • At least one spiraled semi-circular shaped coil is printed on each surface of a wafer. The coil on a first surface of the wafer is arranged in such a manner that it is rotated 90 degrees with respect to the coil on a second surface thereof. In one embodiment, two such printed coils are symmetrically provided on each surface of the wafer, and the pattern of the printed coils on the first surface is arranged to be rotated 90 degrees with respect to the pattern of the printed coils on the second surface thereof. The spiraling directions of the coils on the same surface are inverse or opposite each other. The inner terminals of the coils on each surface are connected and an output is taken out from the outer terminals thereof, or vice versa. A printed coil is employed, for example, in a moving coil type pick-up cartridge.

    • The coil form for a loudspeaker voice coil is made of a material having high thermal conductivity. The coil form is attached to or integrally formed with a highly thermally conductive spider member which resiliently supports the coil form on the frame structure of the speaker, which also has high thermal conductivity. In one embodiment of the invention a heat sink member to facilitate the dissipation of the thermal energy is attached to the speaker frame structure. In an embodiment involving a horn type speaker, the horn element, which is made of a thermally conductive material, is attached to the speaker frame and also functions as a heat dissipator. In this manner, the likelihood of overheating of the speaker voice coil is greatly diminished.
