摘要： A method and system for handling a signaling connection release process in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving a reconfiguration message by a mobile device. The method also includes triggering a serving radio network subsystem (SRNS) relocation process for the mobile device based on the receiving. Further, the method further includes causing a timer to cease running and resetting the timer to a predefined value. Moreover, the method includes clearing a variable associated with the timer from the mobile device. The system includes a mobile device, a radio network controller, and a communication interface.

摘要： Systems and methods of decoupling session management from connection management of a wireless network by enabling transfer of a session between session controllers. A session transfer component transfers ownership of a session from a source session controller to a target session controller, wherein the session transfer does not necessarily require moving the associated connections therewith. Such transfer employs a Unicast Access Terminal Identifier (UATI) that is updated to inform the related base stations regarding transfer of the session.

At least two user equipments (50A-C) (belonging to the same multicast group) receives service data over a common user plane (107′) over an Iu interface (17) In cases where user equipment (50C) is controlled by a SRNC (22B) different from the CRNC (22A), a radio network subsystem application protocol is extended by procedures communicating service information from the SRNC (22B) to the CRNC (22A). The control plane (105) of such a user equipment (50C) can thus have a separate path compared with a common user plane (107′). Preferably, the user plane (107′) is arranged directly over the Iu interface (17) between a serving support node (12) and the CRNC (22A), while control planes (105) may have a path over the Iur interface (14).

A network interface is created between network controlling elements, such as Base Station Controllers, of the wireless communication network. The network interface allows various communication channels established by the mobile to be routed to network controlling elements that are coupled to the various data networks. Information from various established communication channels are routed between various network controlling elements. Thus, a mobile is able to communicate simultaneously with different data networks. The network interface also allows handoffs to be executed with virtually no interruptions and no loss of information being exchanged between the mobile and system equipment involved in the handoff.
