摘要： The invention relates to an information processing apparatus and method and a program which can provide an item suitable for a feeling (mood) of a user. A user data acquisition section 72 acquires a result of decision by the user regarding whether or not an item is appropriate to a predetermined mood. An inappropriateness filter production section 74 acquires a characteristic amount of an item decided as not being appropriate to the predetermined mood by all of users from a characteristic amount analysis section 73. The inappropriateness filter production section 74 analyzes a plurality of characteristic amounts of different acquired items to extract a characteristic amount of an item which is not appropriate to the predetermined mood. An inappropriateness filter produced by the inappropriateness filter production section 74 is used when it is decided whether or not a predetermined item is appropriate to a predetermined mood. The present invention can be applied to a server or the like for recommending and providing an item.

摘要： Disclosed herein are an information processing apparatus and method, a program, and a recording medium, in which a content is recommended to each user on the basis of even the metadata that is assigned with no classification. A metadata analysis block resolves metadata acquired by a metadata acquisition block into components. A dictionary data generation block generates dictionary data in which genre is correlated with keyword and each component. An associated information database generation block references the dictionary data to assign genre to the metadata which are assigned with no genre, thereby generating an associated information database of content. An associated information search block references the dictionary data to identify a genre from a keyword of interest data to search for associated information, thereby recommending content to the user. The present invention is applicable to personal computers or HDD recorders.

A PC extracts, from the mail document transmitted/received by a user, words corresponding to the user's interests and records the interest data. In steps S121 and S122, upon logged in by the user, an HDD recorder requests the acquisition of interest data. On the basis of this request, the PC sends the interest data corresponding to the login user. In steps S123 and S124, the HDD recorder sends the received interest data to a server. In step S131, the server searches for the program information that matches the received interest data. In step S125, on the basis of the program information contained in the search result, the HDD recorder sets the timer-recording of a program. The present invention is applicable to programs which are installed in personal computers.
