    • The present invention relates to a simulator that enables vibration sensations that correspond to simulation contents or the operator's preferences. This simulator causes an operator to sense vibrations by driving a vibration mechanism in accordance with a generation of a given simulation state. This simulator includes: a simulation calculation section which performs a simulation calculation to manipulate a simulator object in accordance with an operational input from an operating section; a vibration mechanism control section which drives the vibration mechanism on condition that a predetermined vibration occurrence simulation state has occurred, by a simulation calculation; and a vibration condition setting section which receives a vibration condition setting which specifies the vibration occurrence simulation state, by an operational input from an operating section for vibration condition setting.

    • A course coordinate system processor has a general automobile control unit, a movement decision unit, and a position decision unit. The general automobile control unit controls the running of a plurality of general automobiles on a straight road in a course coordinate system. The movement decision unit determines whether or not another automobile exists in front of an automobile which is under consideration for a movement decision. The position decision unit determines the positional relation between a player's automobile and general automobiles in the course coordinate system, and also determines general automobiles that are positioned in a predetermined visible range of the player's automobile. Positional coordinate data of the player's automobile have been transformed from a world coordinate system into the course coordinate system by a course coordinate system transformation unit.

    • A mechanically actuated motion platform which provides a realistic simulation of the side to side motion experienced while operating a vehicle which is normally steered at its front end. The motion platform is comprised of a base frame coupled through a pivot to a second frame which carries a steering assembly and a operator seat. The steering assembly is coupled though a means for conveying rotational energy to an axle shaft which uses a traction wheel fixedly connected to the axle shaft to effect substantially horizontal movement of the second frame when rotational force is applied to the steering shaft. Also provided is a tiltable operator seat which acts in concert with a spring loaded throttle pedal to impart sensations of acceleration and deceleration to the user.

    • A steering wheel device used for driving simulators or the like utilizing a steering wheel is designed so that when the steering wheel rotates, the steering wheel shaft and the stopper arm rotate. The auxiliary shaft then rotates in the opposite direction by the engagement of a first gear wheel and a second gear wheel so as to rotate the stopper. The number of teeth of the second gear wheel is greater than that of the first gear wheel so that the steering wheel makes more than one revolution. The stopper arm is designed to hit the stopper to limit the rotation range of the steering wheel. The rotation torque of the steering wheel acts only between the stopper and the stopper arm and not between the gear wheels. As a result, the load applied to both gear wheels decreases so as to increase their service life and eliminate the necessity to employ highly strengthened gear wheels.
