    • A control section 32 supplies a current obtained by rectifying the output of an exciting winding 5 to a field winding 3 responding to variations in the output voltage of the generator to suppress the variations in the output voltage of the generator. The control section 32 drives a transistor 37 at a duty based on a difference between the output voltage of a main winding 4 and a target voltage and controls the gate voltage of an FET 38 to control a field current to a constant value. A flywheel power generation unit including a control power supply winding 14 is provided as a power source of the control section 32 and a power source for passing an initial current through the field winding 3. A current to be supplied to the field winding 3 from the flywheel power generation unit is merged with an exciting current via a diode 31.

    • A regulator for eliminating noises generated by an automotive power generator is composed of a front-end circuit, a semiconductor power element, a resistor, and a capacitor. The front-end circuit includes a plurality of electronic components for offering control signals generated therefrom. The semiconductor power element is electrically connected with a field coil of the power generator, including a gate electrically connected with the front-end circuit for receiving the control signals that switch ON/OFF the gate. The resistor is electrically connected in series between the gate and the front-end circuit. The capacitor includes an end connected with the gate and the other end thereof grounded. Thus, the semiconductor power element can slow down the ON/OFF switching to be further low-cost and simple-circuit for enhanced quality of the output voltage of the power generator.

    • A vehicle power generation control apparatus has a power supply circuit, a rotation detecting circuit, an exciting current detecting circuit, a torque detecting/maximum exciting current determining circuit, and an exciting current control circuit. The rotation detecting circuit detects a rotation speed of a generator (or vehicle alternator) and the exciting current detecting circuit detects an exciting current flowing through an exciting winding of the generator. The torque detecting/maximum exciting current determining circuit calculates a power generation torque of the generator based on the output voltage, the exciting current, the rotation speed, and calculates an inertia torque of the generator based on a change rate of the rotation speed. The exciting current control circuit suppresses the exciting current flowing through the exciting winding so that a change rate of a total sum of the generation torque and the inertia torque does not exceed a predetermined value, for example, during the idling condition.
