    • A social communication system, comprising a telephone name parsing system which parses a name to a corresponding telephone number or parses a telephone number to a corresponding name during communication. The telephone name parsing system comprises a user identity management unit, a user telephone number unit, a user equipment number unit, a user name unit, a name detection unit, a user number name comparison table, a telephone management unit and a synchronization unit. The communication connection between any two users or among a plurality of users firstly passes through the telephone name parsing system. The telephone name parsing system enables each user to select to pack into a data packet the information and attributes disclosed to an opposite user of this communication connection, and displays same to the opposite user.

    • There is provided a monitoring system for monitoring incoming telephone calls, including telephone calls with different called numbers, the system comprising an electronic processor and an associated database containing caller details with corresponding telephone numbers and details regarding locations and/or people to visit with corresponding telephone numbers, the system being adapted to: detect the originating number of the caller and the called number to which the incoming call was made; to store the time, date and number of an incoming call the originating number of which has been detected and store data representing the number to which the incoming call was made; and to identify the location of the caller/person being visited by the caller corresponding to the detected called number by referring to the associated database, and to identify the identity of the caller corresponding to the originating number by referring to the associated database.

    • A method and apparatus for establishing a communication session with a user in a telecommunications network. The session is to be established between a remote device and one of a plurality of communication clients. Each of the clients is on a user device at which the user may participate in the session. A communication session control system located in a signalling path for the session transmits a session establishment request to a given client to place that client in a prior-to-answer session state. In response, the system receives a request from that client that the option to establish the session with the remote device be made available to at least one client of the plurality of clients other than the given client. The system transmits notification data to the at least one other client to notify that the session is available for retrieval by the at least one other client.

    • An apparatus for blocking unwanted calls is disclosed. The apparatus incorporates a whitelist which the user can program so that known friendly callers are not interrupted by the apparatus. The apparatus also incorporates a blacklist which automatically rejects known unwanted callers so that the user is not interrupted by these calls. Additionally, the apparatus allows the user to easily add new numbers to either the blacklist or white list and also to delete numbers from the white list, blacklist or master list of caller IDs. For new numbers, callers are presented with a simple but yet effective message that states that the caller should hang up if the caller is a solicitor or telemarketer, or otherwise press zero so that the apparatus can allow the call to go through to the telephone.
