    • A system and method of mapping a host computer address space into a network interface adapter (NIA) address space. A network interface processor within the NIA requests a memory allocation from the host computer. The host computer responds with an assigned base address in the host computer address space, and a length defining the contiguous addresses within the host computer address space equal to the allocation requested by the NIA processor. A hardware trap is set such that an interrupt to the NIA processor is generated when the host computer attempts to access data at an address within the allocated address range of host computer contiguous addresses. The network interface processor translates the received host address to a physical address within the NIA address space, reads the data at the respective NIA physical address, and transfers the data to the host computer.

In an exemplary embodiment, a universal wireless access gateway (UWAG) may include a shared component and a first environment access module (EAM) that communicates with the shared component to enable access to a first network using a first wireless access technology.     • A method for allocating network addresses comprises providing an address pool comprising a plurality of network addresses and then dividing the address pool into a plurality of address sub-pool that comprise a unique subset of the network addresses of the address pool. Each of the sub-pools is available for use by any one of a plurality of routing devices of a network access server.     • A system and method is provided for transferring packet-switched data across a network. A network interface may be connected to a primary switch and a secondary switch, both of which may be connected to a network. The network interface may also convert between circuit-switched data and packet-switched data.
