    • Logical content is defined by start/end times into a VoD media offering. The calculation of byte-range markers corresponding to the start/end times is distributed among the STBs to first request the particular logical content. Upon receiving an initial request for a logical content offering, an IPTV AS returns a VoD media file URL, start/end times, and null values of byte-range markers corresponding to the start/end times. In response to the null values, the initially-requesting STB downloads the entire VoD media file from a Download Media Server, and calculates the byte-range markers by comparing the start/end times to timestamps in non-encrypted headers in the VoD media file. The non-null byte-range markers are transmitted back to the IPTV AS, which provides them to STBs subsequently requesting the same logical content. The subsequently-requesting STBs may download only the logical content by providing the non-null byte-range markers to the Download Media Server.

    • Method and router supporting tracing of a packet therein. A first service module receives the packet and a memory module stores a tracing extension header. The extension header comprises an identifier of a receiving service module and a tracing identifier associated with the packet. The extension is stored following reception of the packet by the first service module. Optionally, the receiving module may be the first service module that further receives the packet through a network interface module. The first service module may also generate the tracing identifier associated with the packet that uniquely identifies the tracing in the receiving module. The router may comprise a second service module and a second memory module associated thereto. The first service module may further append the tracing extension header to the packet and forwards the packet to the second service module. The second memory module may then store the extension header thereupon.

    • Method and nodes for selecting a network prefix to be advertised in an IP network comprising an access router and a mobile node (MN). From the access router, a first validity period is used to advertise at least a first and a second network prefixes towards the MN. The access router receives a message from the MN indicating an intended address thereof that it intends to use. In the access router, based on the message, only one of the first or second network prefix that the MN needs to use is then determined. The access router afterwards advertises towards the MN the only one network prefix with a second validity period longer than the first validity period. The access router may further acquire a current address and a current network prefix used by the MN and it may use these in the determination of the only one network prefix.

    • A resource admission control entity and method in an administrative domain (AD). The AD has a topology view that comprises link capacity and link usage information. The resource admission control entity receives a request intended for a user to obtain a multicast content, derives a list of links to be newly used by the multicast content based on the request and verifies if the multicast content can be admitted on the links to be newly used by the multicast content based on the topology view thereby providing an admittance verification result. If the admittance verification result is positive, the admission control module updates usage values in the topology view for the links to be newly used by the multicast content.
