摘要： A phase controller for rapid, accurate, stable phase shifting of a continuous wave (cw) laser output combines and adjusts reference paths from before and after an EOPM to obtain maximum constructive interference when the EOPM control voltage is zero. A control voltage V for maximum destructive interference is then determined and regulated to produce and maintain a 180 degree phase shift. The output phase can then be shifted by switching the control voltage to the output of a voltage shifter that shifts V by a specified percentage. The phase shifter can divide the control voltage in half to provide a 90 degree phase shift. The cw laser can function as a seed to a pulsed laser, thereby controlling the pulse phases. Quadrature phase laser pulse pairs can be used for quadrature LiDAR detection. Embodiments include a plurality of voltage shifters for 4-phase quadrature shifting and/or shifting between arbitrary phase values.

摘要： A secondary seal of a mechanical seal comprises an annular sealing gasket and backing plate surrounding a cylindrical sealing surface, all of which can be made of the same metallic material. The gasket is C-shaped in cross section, and is axially pressed during operation into a C-shaped groove formed in the backing plate, the groove being shallower and larger in inner diameter than the gasket, so that the gasket, when pressed into the groove, deforms radially inward and seals against both the backing plate and the sealing surface. The contact area between the gasket and sealing surface increases with pressure. In embodiments, when the pressure is released, the gasket retracts from the sealing surface, allowing easy disassembly and allowing axial movement of the gasket and backing plate. Highly polished surfaces of the gasket and sealing surface can allow axial motion thereof during operation to maintain the seal face gap.

摘要： A Cassegrain telescope design consists of a silicon primary mirror bonded into a silicon-carbide (SiC) telescope metering tube. A secondary mirror is bonded directly to the telescope window. The window sits in a SiC bezel that is bonded to the SiC telescope tube. A graphite snout is bonded to the rear of the primary mirror and extends forward into the telescope. The snout incorporates a field stop that blocks stray light and sources outside the acquisition field of view (FOV). A lens cell threads into the snout and holds two lenses that collimate the light exiting that end of the telescope.

摘要： An ElectroMagnetic-Mechanical Pulser (“EMMP”) generates electron pulses at a continuously tunable rate between 100 MHz and 20-50 GHz, with energies up to 0.5 MeV, duty cycles up to 20%, and pulse widths between 100 fs and 10 ps. A dielectric-filled Traveling Wave Transmission Stripline (“TWTS”) that is terminated by an impedance-matching load such as a 50 ohm load imposes a transverse modulation on a continuous electron beam. The dielectric is configured such that the phase velocity of RF propagated through the TWTS matches a desired electron energy, which can be between 100 and 500 keV, thereby transferring electromagnetic energy to the electrons. The beam is then chopped into pulses by an adjustable aperture. Pulse dispersion arising from the modulation is minimized by a suppressing section that includes a mirror demodulating TWTS, so that the spatial and temporal coherence of the pulses is substantially identical to the input beam.
