摘要： Coverage enhancement of channels in a wireless communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A). Coverage enhancement may include repetition of a channel in the time and/or frequency domain, power boosting of the channel, and reference signal improvement for better channel estimation accuracy. Link adaptation techniques are described, where the link adaptation is dependent on a coverage enhancement (CE) or repetition level. An example method for link adaptation in a Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit (WTRU) in coverage enhancement (CE) mode includes determining the number of repetitions for an uplink channel, deriving the transmission power for the uplink channel based on the number of repetitions, and transmitting the channel with the determined number of repetitions at the transmission power level. Link adaptation based on CE level or repetition level is described for uplink and downlink channels including data, control, access, and broadcast channels.

摘要： A method for reporting power headroom is disclosed. Power headroom may be reported across all carriers (wideband), for a specific carrier, or for a carrier group. The formula used to calculate the power headroom depends on whether the carrier (or a carrier in the carrier group) has a valid uplink grant. If the carrier or carrier group does not have a valid uplink grant, the power headroom may be calculated based on a reference grant. The power headroom is calculated by a wireless transmit/receive unit and is reported to an eNodeB.

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may perform power scaling or other adjustments on physical channels in each subframe to be transmitted on component carriers that belong to different timing advance groups (TAGs) if a sum of the transmit powers of the channels would or is to exceed a configured maximum output power for that subframe where each TAG may be associated with a separate timing advance value for uplink transmissions. The WTRU may adjust the transmit power of at least one physical channel if a sum of transmit powers in an overlapping portion of subframes of a less advanced TAG and a more advanced TAG would or is to exceed a configured maximum WTRU output power during the overlap.

Low Power Subframe (LPS) may be used alone or with Almost Blank Subframe (ABS) to transmit data. Timing Advance (TA) handling for uplink (UL) transmissions is described. A common TA (CTA) may be determined for multi-site UL signaling. UL power control may be determined for UL transmission to multiple sites. Radio Link Monitoring (RLM) may be performed for multiple sites on a carrier frequency. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may maintain synchronization in selected subframes for multiple cells.

The DM-IM resource is a plurality of DM-IM resources which form a DM-IM pattern, and the DM-IM pattern is located on a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) and/or an enhanced Physical Downlink Shared Channel (E-PDSCH) of at least one Long Term Evolution (LTE) subframe. The DM-IM resources are different for different Physical Resource Blocks (PRB) in the LTE subframe. The DM-IM is located in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) Resource Block (RB), and the DM-IM pattern is adjusted.
