摘要： A system, method, and machine-readable storage medium for determining an amount of unique data in a distributed storage system are provided. In some embodiments, a combined efficiency set for a first data set stored in the distributed storage system, such as at a volume, may be generated. The first data set may include a first subset of data and a second subset of data in the distributed storage system. Additionally, a set of efficiency sets for the first subset of data may be generated. A set difference based on the combined efficiency set and the set of efficiency sets may be computed. An amount of memory used for storing unique data of the second subset of data may be estimated based on the set difference. The unique data may be present in the second subset of data but absent from the first subset of data.

摘要： A technique provides efficient data protection, such as erasure coding, for data blocks of volumes served by storage nodes of a cluster. Data blocks associated with write requests of unpredictable client workload patterns may be compressed. A set of the compressed data blocks may be selected to form a write group and an erasure code may be applied to the group to algorithmically generate one or more encoded blocks in addition to the data blocks. Due to the unpredictability of the data workload patterns, the compressed data blocks may have varying sizes. A pool of the various-sized compressed data blocks may be established and maintained from which the data blocks of the write group are selected. Establishment and maintenance of the pool enables selection of compressed data blocks that are substantially close to the same size and, thus, that require minimal padding.

摘要： One or more techniques and/or computing devices are provided for synchronous replication. For example, synchronous replication relationships are established between a first storage object (e.g., a file, a logical unit number (LUN), a consistency group, etc.), hosted by a first storage controller, and a plurality of replication storage objects hosted by other storage controllers. In this way, a write operation to the first storage object is implemented in parallel upon the first storage object and the replication storage objects in a synchronous manner, such as using a zero-copy operation to reduce overhead otherwise introduced by performing copy operations. Reconciliation is performed in response to a failure so that the first storage object and the replication storage objects comprise consistent data. Failed write operations and replication write operations are retried, while enforcing a single write semantic. Dependent write order consistency is enforced for dependent write operations, such as overlapping write operations.

摘要： Techniques are provided for aggregate inline deduplication and volume granularity encryption. For example, data that is exclusive to a volume of a tenant is encrypted using an exclusive encryption key accessible to the tenant. The exclusive encryption key of that tenant is inaccessible to other tenants. Shared data that has been deduplicated and shared between the volume and another volume of a different tenant is encrypted using a shared encryption key of the volume. The shared encryption key is made available to other tenants. In this way, data can be deduplicated across multiple volumes of different tenants of a storage environment, while maintaining security and data privacy at a volume level.

摘要： Techniques are provided for maintaining and recomputing reference counts in a persistent memory file system of a node. Primary reference counts are maintained for pages within persistent memory of the node. In response to receiving a first operation to link a page into a persistent memory file system of the persistent memory, a primary reference count of the page is incremented before linking the page into the persistent memory file system. In response to receiving a second operation to unlink the page from the persistent memory file system, the page is unlinked from the persistent memory file system before the primary reference count is decremented. Upon the node recovering from a crash, the persistent memory file system is traversed in order to update shadow reference counts for the pages with correct reference count values, which are used to overwrite the primary reference counts with the correct reference count values.

摘要： Methods, non-transitory machine readable media, and computing devices that manage data storage fabric health are disclosed. With this technology, a network model is applied to network data determined from monitored network traffic exchanged between storage nodes and via network connections over a cluster fabric to generate a health score for the cluster fabric. A cause of health degradation in the cluster fabric is determined based on an analysis of the network data, when the health score indicates that health of the cluster fabric is degrading. A corrective action is automatically initiated based on the cause of health degradation in the cluster fabric. With this technology, cluster fabrics in data storage networks are more effectively monitored for health degradation and, advantageously, corrective actions can be preemptively initiated to improve performance.
