摘要： The useful life of electrical contacts is extended by a cryogenic treatment. An electrical contact is exposed to a low temperature, such as below 172 K for a selected period of time. The low temperature may be obtained via a controlled rate of cooling. After the contact has been exposed to the low temperature, the contact may be returned to ambient temperature at a controlled rate. The cryogenic treatment results in extended useful life of contacts made of materials such as copper and of composite contacts incorporating silver, refractory metals, and metal oxides such as cadmium oxide and tin oxide.

摘要： A noble metal and solid-phase lubricant composition and an an electrically conductive interconductor including the electrically conductive composition are disclosed. The electrically conductive composition includes a noble metal component and a solid-phase lubricant component. The solid-phase lubricant component is present in an amount sufficient to cause the electrically conductive composition to have a coefficient of friction which is significantly lower than the coefficient of friction of the noble metal component without causing the electrically conductive composition to be significantly less malleable than the noble metal component, nor to be significantly less corrosion resistant than the noble metal component. The electrically conductive composition can form a contact layer of the electrically conductive interconnector. The contact layer is bonded to a diffusion barrier which, in turn, is bonded to a bulk electrical conductor of the electrically conductive interconnector.

摘要： A pressure sensitive control device having a housing made up of a plurality of housing members, a diaphragm, a bistable snap-disc, a switch and an actuator. The snap-disc moves from one configuration to another upon application of pressure over a predetermined amount to drive the actuator which moves the switch from its normal operating position, which can be either closed or open, to a tripped position, which is opposite its normal operating position. Two adjacent housing members, which support the snap-disc and switch, respectively, are formed with cooperating spacers which allow the spacing of these housing members to be continuously varied over a small range of adjustment to allow the switch point of the control device to be adjusted after partial assembly of the control device. The diaphragm and some of the housing members may be subassembled for testing the components of the control device prior to complete assembly. The switch is initially formed as one piece and electrically halved after subassembly with one of the housing members. A housing member which is formed for connection to an electrical control circuit to which the control device is to be attached is modular and can be replaced with similar housing members which are configured for connection to different types of mating electrical connectors associated with different control circuits.Methods of assembly are also disclosed.

In a preferred embodiment the brush-like member is a laser fibrillated structure.

According to the invention, the material contains in addition to silver (Ag), at least iron (Fe) and/or titanium (Ti) in percent by weight of from 2 to 50%. Optionally, nitrides, carbides and/or borides of the metals titanium, zirconium and/or tantalum may also e present. It has been found that in their contact property spectrum such materials are largely equivalent to the material AgNi10. Thus the latter contact material can be replaced completely.

摘要： The invention relates to a method of producing microstructured metallic bodies in which plastic negative molds of the microstructures are produced on an electrically conductive base plate by means of electron beam lithography, X-ray lithography or a micromolding technique. Cavities of the negative molds are filled with metal by electroplating while employing the electrically conductive base plate as an electrode. In the course of producing the negative molds, a residual plastic layer is left at the bottom of the cavities of the negative molds on the electrically conductive base plate. Also, before the cavities of the negative molds are filled with metal by electroplating, the residual plastic layer at the bottom of the cavities is removed by means of reactive ion etching with ions that are accelerated perpendicularly toward the surface of the base plate.
