摘要： A system for producing 3D video using first and second cameras on first and second axes. The second camera has a field of view (FOV) overlapping with the first camera's FOV. The second axis is at a convergence angle relative to the first axis. A control computer changes the inter-camera distance by effectively moving the second camera laterally, and changes convergence angle by effectively rotating the second camera. The control computer automatically calculates the inter-camera distance and convergence angle based on the distance of a user to the display screen, working distance of the cameras, zoom settings, and size of the screen, and effectively moves the second camera accordingly. A keystone correction is performed to account for the camera projections, the frames are rotationally aligned, and the corrected/aligned frames are combined to produce a 3D image frame that is displayed on a 3D display screen.

摘要： Disclosed are a device and a method of depth sensing that handle light leakage issues. In some embodiments, the depth sensing device includes a light emitter that illuminates an environment of the depth sensing device. The device identifies a first portion of the emitted light that is prevented from reaching the environment of the device due to being redirected by an optical component located in proximity to the light emitter. An imaging sensor of the device detects a second portion of the emitted light that reaches and is reflected by a surface in the environment of the device other than a surface of the optical component. The device generates, based on the second portion of the emitted light, a depth map that includes a plurality of values corresponding to distances relative to the device, wherein said generating excludes from consideration the identified first portion of the emitted light.

摘要： An exemplary virtual reality media provider system differentiates static objects depicted in two-dimensional video data from dynamic objects depicted in the two-dimensional video data. Based on the differentiating of the static objects from the dynamic objects, the virtual reality media provider system generates dynamic volumetric models of the surfaces of the static objects and the dynamic objects. The virtual reality media provider system updates the dynamic volumetric models of the surfaces of the static objects with a lower regularity or on an as-needed basis, and the virtual reality media provider system separately updates the dynamic volumetric models of the surfaces of the dynamic objects with a higher regularity. The higher regularity is higher than the lower regularity and keeps the dynamic volumetric models of the surfaces of the dynamic objects up-to-date with what is occurring in the two-dimensional video data. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

摘要： Disclosed is a mobile pavement surface scanning system for detecting pavement distress. In an embodiment the system comprises one or more light sources mounted on the mobile vehicle for illuminating a pavement, one or more stereoscopic image capturing devices mounted on the vehicle for capturing sequential images of an illuminated pavement surface, and a plurality of positioning sensors mounted on the mobile vehicle, the positioning sensors adapted to encode movement of the mobile vehicle and provide a synchronization signal for the sequential images captured by the one or more stereoscopic image capture devices. One or more computer processors are adapted to synchronize the intensity image pairs captured by each camera in the one or more stereoscopic image capturing devices, perform a 3D reconstruction of the pavement from the intensity image pairs using stereoscopic principles, generate a depth image and an intensity image pair from the 3D reconstruction, and process at least one of the depth image and the intensity image utilizing one or more distress detection modules to detect a type of pavement distress.

摘要： Techniques are provided for perception enhancement of light fields (LFs) for use in integral display applications. A methodology implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes receiving one or more LF views and a disparity map associated with each LF view. The method also includes quantizing the disparity map into planes, where each plane is associated with a selected range of depth values. The method further includes slicing the LF view into layers, where each layer comprises pixels of the LF view associated with one of the planes. The method further includes shifting each of the layers in a lateral direction by an offset distance. The offset distance is based on a viewing angle associated with the LF view and further based on the depth values of the associated plane. The method also includes merging the shifted layers to generate a synthesized LF view with increased parallax.

A model processor (407) generates a contour depth model for a contour by fitting a depth model to input depth values for the contour. A depth value determiner (409) determines a depth model depth value for at least a one pixel of the contour from the contour depth model. The depth model may e.g. correspond to a single depth value which e.g. may be set to a maximum input depth value. A modifier (411) generates a modified depth map from the associated depth map by modifying depth values of the associated depth map. This includes generating a modified depth value for a pixel in the modified depth map in response to the depth model depth value. The depth model depth value may e.g. replace the input depth value for the pixel.

Taking advantage of the way the human brain processes imagery, a new compression algorithm, utilizing a new concept called “shared pixel parts”, allows for the transmission, reception, and display of full HD stereoscopic 3-D video with no loss of resolution or frames to either eye, using a single conventional TV channel and any type of conventional display without alteration. Depending on the type of display used, viewers wear either passive polarized glasses, a new type of static colored filter glasses, or a new type of active colored filter glasses to view the same data signal showing virtually ghost-free full-color images with great depth, a wide angle of view, and a bright flickerless image which doesn't produce any discomfort even after extended viewing, and the signal is also compatible with current 3-D-ready TVs.
