    • An earpiece attachment for use with a cell phone has a body with a first end of the second end with a hole formed therethrough, and a trumpet affixed to the body in a location over a hole of the body. The first and second ends are suitable for engaging a surface of the cell phone. The body has a length suitable for extending across a width of the cell phone. The trumpet is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The extended position is suitable for extending into or adjacent to an ear canal of the user. A resilient member is fitted within the trumpet so as to urge the trumpet toward the extended position. A lock is affixed to the body and is suitable for maintaining the trumpet in the retracted position.

    • A method and system for indicating voice input state for a call on a communications device being used by a user to communicate with a party during the call. A processor unit identifies the state of voice input for the call. In response to the state of the voice input state being a mute state, the processor unit identifies a first setting for the mute state. The first setting for the mute state specifies: (i) first conditions which must be satisfied during the call in order for the voice input state to be the mute state and (ii) a first type of audio to be played on the communications device during the call while the voice input state is the mute state, wherein the first conditions comprise a first type of the call and an identity of a first party to whom the user is communicating with during the call.

    • Disclosed, in general, are devices that provide a substantially sound-tight chamber over a sound source while absorbing fields of sounds from the sound source. In general, the devices feature: an anechoic chamber that is configured to receive a sound source in a substantially sound-tight manner; and an anechoic channel that is in fluid communication with the ambient atmosphere. The anechoic chamber is adapted to capture air containing sound energy generated by the sound source, and distribute the air about an internal surface area on the inside of the chamber, wherein the internal surface area is sufficiently large to dampen or otherwise absorb the sound energy. Preferably, the air is directed from the anechoic chamber through an anechoic channel extending therefrom to the ambient to further dampen or absorb the sound energy. In one configuration, the outer wall of the apparatus is configured to reflect ambient sounds.
