    • A system and method for route optimization in PMIP having a first mobile node having a local mobility anchor and anchored at an access router and a second mobile node anchored at an access router is presented. The method includes establishing a binding cache at one access router comprising a mapping of mobile node addresses to access router addresses, populating the binding cache, and updating the mapping of the mobile node addresses in response to a handoff of a mobile node from one access router to another access router, so that a packet is transmitted from the first mobile node to the second mobile node using the mapping in the binding cache. The second access router address is obtained by either transmitting the packet from the first mobile node to the local mobility anchor, or querying neighboring access routers, or broadcasting access router addresses from the local mobility anchor.

    • Provided are a wireless communication terminal that can select a power-efficient wireless communication system while keeping a data rate at a fixed level, and a communication system selection method. A wireless communication terminal is designed to be able to operate selectively according to a plurality of communication systems, and is configured to include: a required data rate calculation section that calculates a required data rate as a data rate needed to be satisfied in accordance with a remaining level of power and a communication history; and a communication system selection section that selects which communication system to be used through a comparison between a data rate of each of the communication systems to be determined based on a measured quality of communication service, and the calculated required data rate. This accordingly enables to select a power-efficient communication system while keeping a data rate at a standard level determined by a remaining level of power and a communication history. For example, the communication system can be used adaptively depending on the remaining level of battery, i.e., when the remaining level of battery is high, selected will be a communication system with a high data rate, and when the remaining level of battery is low, selected will be a communication system with a low data rate.

    • Provided are techniques which offer an advantage of reduced time and reduced storage capacity required to calculate the feature value of AAC-format song data. A feature extraction unit includes: an MDCT coefficient extraction unit which extracts MDCT coefficients from AAC-format song data; a classification unit which locates the MDCT coefficients thus extracted by the MDCT coefficient extraction unit on Mel frequency regions so as to uniformly classify the MDCT coefficients into classes, the number of which is the same as that of a predetermined number of Mel filter banks; an integrating unit which extracts the MDCT coefficients classified by the classification unit by applying a predetermined window function, and integrates the MDCT coefficients thus extracted, in increments of the Mel filter banks; and a feature calculation unit which calculates the feature value by performing logarithmic cosine conversion of the integrated results obtained by the integrating unit.

    • An operation estimating portion estimates an input operation on the basis of motions of a nail and a finger which are shot, the directions, the number thereof or others. On the basis of estimation results of the input operation, a controller controls display content on a display and an application now in execution. The operation estimating portion includes a skin region extractor for extracting a skin region (first region) containing a nail region (second region) from a shot image, a nail region extractor for extracting the nail region from the thus extracted skin region, and a motion detector for following up a temporal change in the thus extracted nail region to detect motions of the nail region, thereby estimating the input operation on the basis of detection results of the motion detector.
