    • A new mounting sheet for mounting items such as small note sheets, business cards, and receipts thereon for permitting easy scanning of the items by a scanning device, such as a computer scanning devices and photocopying devices. The inventive device includes a sheet having an upper surface, and a pair of spaced apart lateral edges and a pair of spaced apart longitudinal edges extending between the lateral edges. Provided on the upper surface of the sheet are a plurality of elongate adhesion strips arranged in a grid arrangement on the upper surface of the sheet such that the grid arrangement has a plurality of laterally extending adhesion strips and a plurality of longitudinally extending adhesion strips. The lengths of the laterally extending adhesion strips are extended between the longitudinal edges of the sheet while the lengths of the longitudinally extending adhesion strips are extended between the lateral edges of the sheet. The grid arrangement of the adhesion strips defines a plurality of non-adhesive regions on the upper surface of the sheet which are arranged in a plurality of laterally extending rows and longitudinally extending columns.

    • An object code expansion profiler equips a program for execution profiling by preprocessing the object code files of the program so as to add profiling monitoring code to the beginning of all or substantially all functions. The preprocessing includes, for each function, the steps of grouping the function's instructions into basic blocks, counting the number of cycles required to execute the instructions of the basic block, and inserting special monitoring code with the basic block. The special monitoring code is executed each time the basic block is executed, and updates the profiling information to reflect the number of cycles required to execute the basic block. Special handling is provided for profiling calls to the Operating System (OS). The resultant profiling information is converted into a call graph image most useful for human users. For each arc in the graph connecting a calling-function/parent-node to a called-function/child node, the displayed arc image has a width logarithmically proportional to the self+descendants time for the called function.

    • A system for adaptively adjusting a radar's receiver attenuation of input signals having a wide dynamic range to maintain the attenuated signals within a predetermined range for radar post processing operations is disclosed. The system includes an automatic gain control (AGC) loop governed by a computed logarithmic signal representative of the measured clutter content of the input signals received over the time interval of a radar look and a compatible reference logarithmic signal to generate a logarithmic adjustment signal for the receiver attenuation. The AGC loop includes selectable loop gains which are selected as a function of the computed logarithmic signal. More specifically, one set of loop gains is selected when the computed logarithmic signal is equal to or greater than a threshold level, and another set of loop gains is selected when the computed logarithmic signal is less than the threshold level. The AGC loop may further include an accumulator for accumulating signals based on the logarithmic signals computed over a succession of radar looks, and apparatus for rendering the AGC loop unresponsive to the computed logarithmic signals for a period of time and for causing the accumulator to converge to a desired level during the time period. The AGC loop may further include a limiter for limiting the logarithmic adjustment signal to within a predetermined signal range.

    • A controller is described for limiting the rate and acceleration of a device positioned by at least one actuator which responds to a sequence of position commands separated by time intervals incorporating a subtractor for taking the difference of two consecutive position commands to provide a difference signal in vector form, means for determining the magnitude of the difference signal, a comparator for comparing the magnitude of the difference signal with a predetermined value, a switch for coupling the desired position command to the actuator at times the magnitude of the difference signal is less than or equal to the predetermined value, two dividers, two multipliers, an adder and normalizer for providing a new position command between the past command and the desired position command at times the magnitude of the difference signal exceeds the predetermined value. The acceleration is limited after the rate is limited by subtracting the latest position command from the prior position command to determine a new difference signal of the latest time interval which is subtracted from the difference signal of the previous time interval to determine the change in difference signal in vector form between two consecutive time intervals indicative of acceleration. A new position command is arithmetically generated by the use of a comparator, divider, two multipliers, two adders and a normalizer at times the magnitude of the change exceeds a predetermined value to provide a new position command which is both rate limited and acceleration limited. The invention overcomes the problem of actuators driving a device into gimbal stops and provides a means for damping device oscillations about a desired position.

    • Various methods and systems are provided for adaptable media processing architectures. In one example, among others, an adaptable coding architecture for servicing media streams includes media processing resources and a controller that supports a first media stream by placing media processing pipeline resources in a single stream configuration and that causes a transition from the single stream configuration to a multiple stream configuration of the media processing resources. For example, the transition may be made to simultaneously support encoding or decoding another media stream. In another example, a device includes media processing resources and a controller that causes an adaptive reconfiguration of media processing resources to support simultaneous coding related processing of both a new media stream and at least one ongoing media stream, which may cause a reallocation of at least a part of the media processing resources from an ongoing media stream to the new media stream.
