    • Generally speaking, methods and media for authorizing a guest to use an electronic financial transaction card, such as a credit card or debit card, are disclosed. Embodiments may include receiving information about a desired guest transaction (which may be limited in size, timeframe, nature, etc.) from a customer associated with an EFT card, generating a guest PIN number and artifact information for the guest transaction, and transmitting them to the customer. Embodiments may also include receiving from a financial terminal a PIN number and an indication of a supplied artifact associated with a proposed transaction utilizing the EFT card. Embodiments may include determining whether the proposed transaction should be authorized based on the received PIN number and the supplied artifact and, in response to determining that the proposed transaction should be authorized, transmitting approval of the proposed transaction to the financial terminal.

    • In one embodiment, this invention utilizes radio frequency identification (RFID) tag with nutrition information for each kind of food in a restaurant, institutional cafeteria, in food delivery to hospital patients, in hospice, in old age home residents or elsewhere. The food plate is placed on a coaster with an RFID reader and miniature built-in scale. The scale is used to measure the weight of a particular food placed on the plate. In addition, the RFID reader reads the nutritional information from an RFID tag in the serving bin of the cafeteria or the food distribution point. With the nutritional information of each food and the amount of the food that is added to the plate, the nutritional intake of a customer or patient can be calculated. With this the nutrition information now available, the nutritional information, including the amount of vitamins, calories, sugars, carbohydrates, and grams (g) of fat, can be obtained and tracked.

    • In one embodiment, a Wake-On-LAN (WOL) signal is sent to power-up and boot the workstation when the employees badge into the site in order to save time for the employees. The workstation boots up into the operating system as the employees arrive at the office area. Upon badging into their office area or building, a database matches the badge number with the MAC address of their corresponding workstations. Then a WOL signal with that MAC address is sent to power-up the particular workstations. In an embodiment, upon badging out, the same procedure is triggered to shutdown the machine or performs any other tasks based on a predetermined configuration. If two or more employees use the same computer, the computer is turned on when either employee badges into the site. This embodiment groups the employees in a group entity and keeps track of the individuals within the group.

    • Provided is a system and method for employing a single instantiation of a web form for multiple data requests. A user displays a form that the user would like to submit for multiple data requests. The user executes a form extension utility. The form extension utility either modifies the form to enable the entry of multiple data requests or generates and displays a data entry spreadsheet corresponding to the web form. Once the user has entered the required information, the form extension utility generates multiple queries. The user selects a format for the results and the form extension utility submits the multiple requests to the appropriate server. The server returns results for each submitted request. The form extension utility receives the results transmitted from the server, formats the results according to the user-selected format and displays the results.

    • Provided is a system and method for providing a browser functionality to determine the existence of a table, identify data therein and manipulate the data according to a user's input. Thus, a method for manipulating data tables in a client machine includes determining at the client machine, existence of a table via a loaded graphical user interface operable with a markup language; extracting data from the table; storing the data from the table in a local cache; manipulating the data in the local cache; and displaying the data in a user-defined table by applying a function within the graphical user interface. The manipulating can include sorting the data in the local cache which could include re-sorting the data according to user-defined parameters. The user-defined parameters can include determining a column by which to sort and a row by which to sort. The table on the client computer can be generated by the graphical user interface loading a Web page from a server machine. The graphical user interface can be a Web browser or can be operable with a Web browser. Alternatively, the function within the graphical user interface is a preset set of functions.
