摘要： A fuel cell system is provided. The fuel cell system may comprise segmented-in-series solid oxide fuel cells. The system may comprise a first fuel cell tube, a second fuel cell tube, and a plurality of secondary interconnects. The first and second fuel cell tubes may comprise a substrate having a first and second end and a pair of generally planar opposing major surfaces extending between the ends, a plurality of fuel cells disposed on one of the major surfaces wherein the fuel cells are electrically coupled in series to one another, a first electrical conductor that provides an electrical path from a fuel cell disposed on the major surface near an end of the substrate to a location on the other of the major surfaces. The plurality of secondary interconnects provide an electrical path between the first and second fuel cell tubes. The plurality of interconnects may be coupled to the first electrical conductor of each tube. The first fuel cell may be positioned with a major surface thereof spaced apart from and parallel to a major surface of the second fuel cell tube.

摘要： The electrochemical cell stack includes a first separator, a second separator, and an electrochemical cell disposed between the first separator and the second separator. The electrochemical cell includes an anode, a cathode and a solid electrolyte layer. The solid electrolyte layer has a downstream part and an upstream part. An intensity ratio of tetragonal zirconia to cubic zirconia in a Raman spectrum of the first region is greater than an intensity ratio of tetragonal zirconia to cubic zirconia in a Raman spectrum of the second region.

摘要： Disclosed is a scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte for a solid oxide fuel cell, which is configured such that at least one oxide selected from among gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) and samarium oxide (Sm2O3) is co-doped with ytterbium oxide (Yb2O3) to thus improve stability in a reducing atmosphere. The scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte of the invention can be stabilized into a cubic crystal structure at room temperature while retaining the inherently high oxygen ionic conductivity of a scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte (11ScSZ), and can also ensure stability in a reducing atmosphere by solving the problem with a conventional ceria (CeO2)-doped scandia-stabilized zirconia in which the ionic conductivity continuously deteriorates in a reducing atmosphere.

The proton conducting electrolyte composition i.e. Sr1-xBaxCe0.5Zr0.35Y0.1Sm0.05O3-δ, comprises combination of doped BaCeO3 and BaZrO3 by their doping in Sr, Y, and Sm, wherein x=0 to 0.99, and δ=0 to 0.1. The proton conducting electrolyte is used as at least one component, among others, of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells such Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) can easily be operated at intermediate temperature about 600° C. thereby making the SOFC cost effective and reliable and showing highest power density.

摘要： The present invention relates to a solid oxide (or protonic ceramic) fuel cell, a cathode for a solid oxide (or protonic ceramic) fuel cell, and a method of making the same. More specifically, the cathode for a solid oxide (or protonic ceramic) fuel cell utilizes a phase-pure perovskite structure of the compound BaCo0.4Fe0.4Zr0.2−xYxO3−δ, where x is between about 0 and about 0.2. The cathode material may then be utilized in a SOFT or a PCFC as either a thin film porous cathode or as nanoparticles infiltrated into a cathode bone having a different structure.

摘要： The objective of one or more embodiments of the present invention is to provide a zirconia electrolyte which has high strength and which is suitable for a solid electrolyte layer of a solid oxide fuel cell, and a method for producing a zirconia electrolyte having high strength. The zirconia electrolyte according to one or more embodiments of the present invention is characterized in essentially consisting of zirconia stabilized by one or a plurality of oxides of rare earth selected from the group of scandium, yttrium, cerium, gadolinium and ytterbium, wherein a standard deviation of pore numbers in 10 or more regions having an area of 50 μm2 and not overlapping with each other on a fracture surface is 2.5 or more.
