    • The present invention provides a slot type connecting terminal (40) which may make a connection between the conductor material (Wc) of the insulated conductor (W) and the slot (42) by penetration into the insulation of conductor and contacting the conductor material therewith in the area at least half a circle of the arcuate, by weighing down of the conductor after setting the insulated conductor into said slot (42) of terminal (40), and the slot having semi-circular knife edge profile in at least the lower part thereof will penetrate and make a contact area between them. The cover (20) and the terminal block body (30) have respective conductor receiving groove (23, 33) to securely hold the connected conductor in place. Said cover has a scoring line (24) formed in transverse direction to the length of said cover by cutting off a part of its height leaving thin film at the scoring line such that said scoring line will act as a snap hinge (25). Since only the movable portion of the cover is snappingly engaged by the hooks (36, 38) provided in the terminal block body (30), access into the connected conductor within the terminal body can be made by simply turning up the movable portion of the cover (20) when connecting the conductor or during inspection or maintenance of the connection.

    • An electrical connector assembly includes a receptacle connector (10) matable with a pin header (122). The pin header (122) includes a cavity (126) in which a gasket seal (202) is located. The seal (202) includes a rim (214) that is thicker than a central section (204) surrounded by the rim. The rim bulges inwardly when subjected to elevated temperatures so that excessive stresses are not imposed on the mated connectors. The seal (202) is rectangular and the portions (203, 205) of the seal rim (214) on the shorter end sections are wider than most of the rim along the longer sides. Sections (207 and 209) adjacent a central opening (212) are also wider than adjacent portions of the longer side of the seal rim (214). These wide section prevent the rim from rocking when subjected to compression and prevent the seal from ballooning next to the inside of the rim. Leakage when the seal is subjected to elevated temperatures is thus prevented.

    • An electrical connector of generally clam-shell construction includes an integral mount at the cable end of only one connector half to thereby provide an integral mount for a flexible strain relief. Additionally, a P.C. board mounted overtemperature sensing circuit is contained within the connector to sense an overtemperature condition inside the connector itself and illuminate an LED to provide a visual indication to an operator that an overtemperature condition has occurred. The LED remains illuminated so long as the connector is connected in circuit with the battery being charged and will remain so even after the battery charger's automatic circuitry reduces or cuts off charger power to the circuit. The circuit automatically resets itself for reuse upon disconnection (and cooling) of the connector from the charging circuit.

    • A hood for an electrical connector employs a pair of identical body porti which are mated together to grasp the electrical connector and to provide strain relief to the exiting conductors. Strain relief is provided by a resilient or flexible strain relief tab extending angularly inward from an inner surface of each of the body portions. The strain relief tabs have sufficient resilience to permit outward deflection thereof as necessary to handle a substantial range of cable or wire bundle diameters. An optional bifurcated tip on the strain relief tab doubles the contact lines with a small cable and improves the ability of the tip to conform to the shape of a small cable or wire bundle. Ridges on the strain relief tab engage the surface of a large cable or wire bundle. The ridges may be sawteeth which are angled to resist outward forces on the cable or wire bundle. Exit channels are provided for cable exit either axially or in either of two transverse directions.

    • A positive retention connector has a hollow body for receiving a conductive wire and a housing insertable in the hollow body and adapted to support one or more terminal prongs connected to the wire and having means for positively engaging the periphery of the wire or its insulation for frictionally preventing relative movement between the wire and the connector.
