    • Techniques for efficiently configuring and reconfiguring calls using a set of default configurations and differential encoding are described. At the network side, a configuration to use for communication with a wireless device is initially selected. A default configuration is identified from among a set of default configurations. The differences, if any, between the selected configuration and the default configuration are ascertained. An identity for the default configuration and the differences, if any, are sent to the wireless device to convey the selected configuration. At the wireless device, the message containing the identity for the default configuration is initially received. The default configuration is obtained from a memory based on the identity. A determination is made whether the message contains differences between the default configuration and the selected configuration. Values for the default configuration are replaced with the differences, if any, sent in the message.

    • A method and apparatus for controlling a site-specific activity at a plurality of remote locations, for example, the inspection of geographically remote equipment or the gathering of data for a census. A mobile operator transports a portable tool (14) to a plurality of locations where a site-specific activity is to be conducted. The portable tool includes a location detection device (32). Processing of data using the portable tool is enabled only when the portable tool is located proximate a designated site, as determined by the location detection device. In various embodiments, the enabled site-specific activity may include data recordation, data transmission, data reception, data processing, and/or the display of a data entry form.

    • A system for determining a location for a mobile communication device includes a plurality of taps, a multiplexer, and a link aggregator. Each tap includes a pair of connectors that couple to a communication link of a radio access network inline and pass between them a signal received over the communication link. Each tap also includes a multiplexer connector that couples to a multiplexer and a cable connecting the multiplexer connector to the inline connectors. The tap replicates signals passing between the inline connectors and propagates the replicated signals to the multiplexer connector. The multiplexer receives, from each tap, signals replicated by that tap, extracts location data from the received signals, and transmits the location data to a link aggregator. The link aggregator receives the location data from the multiplexer and determines a location for one of the mobile devices based on the received location data.

    • The present invention provides a method of data retransmission in MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service), comprising: a step in which a base station allocates an uplink time-frequency resource block to mobile stations; a step in which the mobile stations feed back uplink feedback signalings with respect to the received downlink MBMS service data to the base station on the allocated uplink time-frequency resource block, wherein the uplink feedback signalings with respect to one and the same downlink MBMS service data are combined in one and the same uplink time-frequency resource, and the uplink feedback signalings with respect to different downlink MBMS service data are multiplexed in one uplink time-frequency resource block; a step in which the base station decides whether to retransmit a data block based on the fed-back uplink feedback signalings.

    • Provided is a method for providing a service, and a method and an apparatus for allocating a resource in a wireless communication system. Services to be provided to users are divided into one of primary and secondary services based on priority in terms of frequency utilization. A service is provided using frequency channel remaining after being used in the primary service in a time zone when frequency utilization rate of the primary service is a threshold value or less. Accordingly, when service data corresponding to the secondary service are received, a user terminal stores the service data in a storage unit. Then, when the user requests provision of the corresponding service, the user terminal provides the stored service data to the user.
