摘要： In a radio communication system (100, 200) using a channel divided into a plurality of time slots, a control signal is transmitted in each time slot and a data signal is transmitted intermittently using a subset of the time slots. The control signal includes a portion which is a predetermined signal, such as a pilot signal, and one or more bits constituting a power control command. The format of the control signal is adapted according to whether or not data is transmitted in the same time slot. When data is not being transmitted, the proportion of the control signal which constitutes a power control command is increased and the energy of the control signal is reduced, at least by reducing the energy of the predetermined signal portion.

摘要： Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate utilizing power control preambles with closed loop power control techniques in a wireless communication environment. An uplink grant can be transferred over a downlink (e.g., a first uplink grant after uplink inactivity), and a power control preamble can be sent over an uplink in response to the uplink grant. According to an example, transmission of the power control preamble can be explicitly scheduled and/or implicitly scheduled. The power control preamble can be transmitted at a power level determined by an access terminal utilizing an open loop power control mechanism. A base station can analyze the power control preamble and generate a power control command based thereupon to correct the power level employed by the access terminal. The access terminal can thereafter utilize the power control command to adjust the power level for uplink data transmission.

摘要： Embodiments include managing a reverse link transmission power level setpoint during periods of data inactivity on a reverse link traffic channel in a wireless communications system. At an access terminal, upon detecting reverse link data inactivity above a time threshold, a message is generated and transmitted on the reverse link traffic channel at a power level sufficient for the access network to measure transmission statistics to determine whether to adjust the current transmission power level setpoint of the access terminal. Alternatively, the access terminal notifies the access network of an upcoming reverse link data inactivity period, and then lowers its transmission power level setpoint to reduce power consumption during the reverse link data inactivity period. Then, upon detection of a potential reverse link data transmission, the access terminal may then send one or more messages to prompt the access network to modify the access terminal's transmission power level setpoint.

摘要： A device and method for continuous outer-loop power control on a physical channel which transmits only power control bits and no data while in discontinuous transmission (DTX) mode in a CDMA mobile communication system is disclosed. In the power controlling device according to one aspect of the present invention, a frame error detector detects an error from a frame of predetermined length and generates an error signal indicating whether an error has been generated. A closed-loop power controller compares a threshold with the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in each power control group (PCG) in a plurality of periods of the frame and generates power control information according to the comparison result. An outer-loop power controller increases the threshold in order to generate power control information that commands a power increase in response to an error signal indicating the existence of a frame error, and decreases the threshold in order to generate power control information that commands a power decrease in response to an error signal indicating the absence of a frame error. An offset controlling unit, which is connected to the outer-loop power controller, receives gating information about the gated transmission of data in a frame at a predetermined rate, and generates an offset signal, which indicates an offset corresponding to a changed gating rate if the gating rate is changed.

摘要： A transmit power control method and system used in radio communications between a transmitting station and a receiving station is provided. The method and system employ a so-called double closed-loop control technique, and target signal quality is updated so that data quality received at the receiving station satisfies prescribed target data quality. When data are transmitted discontinuously, first target signal quality updated immediately before an idle period is held, and second target signal quality higher than the first target signal quality is set when data transmission resumes immediately after the idle period. The transmit power of the transmitting station is regulated so that signal quality at the receiving station satisfies the second target signal quality when the data transmission resumes.

摘要： In the mobile radio communication system where the UMTS and an another system coexist an idle slot for observing the frequency component of another system is inserted in one superframe of UMTS. The duration of this idle slot is at most half of the duration of one frame that form the superframe and it is inserted at an interval of a specified number of frames. Therefore, the frequency component of the another system can be observed securely from the UMTS. Further, deterioration of interleaving performance of the compressed mode frames during such observation can be suppressed.
