    • A print data method includes a slicing step, a compressing step and decompressing step. The slicing step divides a swatch of data to be printed and required by each motor movement into a plurality of slices, each having m bits to represent printed pixels and further divided into n segments, where m, n are integers. The compressing step uses an inter-slice compression to represent an (i+1)-th slice of data on a basis of an i-th slice of data for generating a compressed (i+1)-th slice of data and an (i+1)-th control character. The decompressing step uses an inter-slice decompression with respect to the inter-slice compression to restore the (i+1)-th slice of data from the compressed (i+1)-th slice of data for further printing.

    • A method of compressing a set of image data organized into a matrix of pixels includes selecting a multi-pixel block portion of the data, then performing a mathematical function on the multi-pixel block portion to generate a first result. The multi-pixel block portion is divided into at least two segments, and a function is performed on each of the segments to generate a second result and a third result. Based on a comparison of the first, second, and third results, determining whether or not to compress the multi-pixel block portion. The function may be a deviation or mean measurement and serve to determine the noise level and image detail level to determine whether to compress or divide the block into sub blocks. Sub blocks may be recursively analyzed for compression or subdivision until all sub blocks are compressed or divided into single pixels.

    • A method for decoding compressed image data recorded in an optical disk includes the steps of recording program data capable of performing partial decoding, in addition to the compressed image data, in the optical disk in advance; recording the program data temporarily in a memory card removably installed in an electronic device; recording the program data recorded in the memory card into a main memory within the electronic device; reading the compressed image data from the optical disk into the electronic device using a decoding unit arranged in the electronic device to decode the compressed image data partially; and decoding the partially decoded compressed image data by the program data recorded in the memory of the electronic device. The decoding method and the electronic device used to decode the compressed image data allow for future updates and improvements and real-time decoding.

    • A method of rescaling images first determines the rescaling rate from a source image to a destination image. Coordinates of pixels in the destination image are determined from the source image according to the rescaling rate. The source image is then scanned. Adjacent pixels with the same pixel value are combined into a pixel block. The intermediate format information of the pixel block is determined according to the coordinate of the pixel block in the destination image. Afterwards, the corresponding bitmap image is formed by halftone rendering according to the intermediate format information.
