By these means, the normal horizontal synchronization information can still be included in the form of transitions 1 and 2, and the chance of the synchronization and picture signals interfering with each other is minimized.

摘要： An improved stereoscopic television system is disclosed, having a great deal of compatibility with the existing commercial television infrastructure. Flicker is eliminated while preserving the existing bandwidth allowing the stereoscopic video signals to be handled with conventional apparatus such as video tape recorders, video disks, or broadcast equipment. In the present invention the number of fields per second is twice that of he standard field rate. When displayed on an unmodified receiver or monitor, each subfield image appears to be anamorphically compressed in the vertical direction by a factor of two. A blanking area and/or vertical sync pulse separates the two subfields.

摘要： In a television receiver with digital signal processing circuitry, a composite video signal is sampled by an analog-to-digital converter. A luminance processor responsive to the digital samples of the composite video signal develops digital luminance signals and a chrominance processor develops digital chrominance signals. A digital-to-analog converter coupled to the luminance and chrominance processors develops a plurality of analog output voltages representative of the luminance and chrominance information. A driver circuit converts the analog output voltages to drive signals that are applied to the cathode electrodes of a color picture tube to produce a display of the picture information contained in the composite video signal. A signal generator develops a control signal that is applied to a reset line of the digital-to-analog converter to establish the analog output voltages at predetermined levels. If the control signal, for example, is indicative of the blanking interval within the composite video signal, the predetermined levels established are ones that will produce a blank display.

摘要： An analog carrier signal and its sidebands contain modulated information which is to be digitally encoded and processed. Demodulation and digital encoding is accomplished in a single process by an analog-to-digital converter, which samples the analog signals in response to a sampling signal of a frequency which is at least twice the bandwidth of the band of frequencies containing the carrier signal and its information-bearing sidebands. The analog signal samples are digitally encoded, producing a band of digital information signals corresponding to baseband signal components. When used in a television receiver to produce digital signal samples, the band of analog signals may include both sound and picture carriers and their audio and video information. By controlling the phase and frequency of the analog carrier signal in relation to the color subcarrier signal, and deriving the sampling signal from the analog carrier, an ease in video signal demodulation is provided.

The S signal is representative of the luminance of a scan between the original scans, and the .DELTA. represents vertical resolution. The signals are transmitted to a monitor for generating a high-vertical-resolution picture. Where the display is a color TV receiver, the .DELTA. signal may be buried within the chroma channel by frequency interleaving with the .DELTA. signal occuring only in locations representing high-frequency vertical information. The buried .DELTA. signal is invisible on a conventional receiver. Other independent data may be coupled through the chroma channel by frequency interleaving.

摘要： A technique for storing and transmitting digital data in a video format includes use of chrominance and luminance portions of a video signal for transmitting data and timing information. The data is encoded according to a predetermined set of chrominance signals corresponding to a predetermined set of colors. Timing information is conveyed by a change in the luminance or brightness of the video signal. A predetermined brightness level transition determines when the chrominance signal should be decoded in order to determine which of the plurality of colors is indicated. The use of the luminance signal to transmit timing information enables the use of a decoding circuit having a relatively simple structure. In one preferred embodiment, two predetermined colors are employed to indicate either a digital one or a digital zero. It is further preferred that a frame border of a predetermined non-encoded color surround each frame of encoded color signals in order to reduce the noise sensitivity of the system during both horizontal and vertical retrace. Video signals encoded in this manner may be stored in video cassette recordings or video disk recordings or may be transmitted in the manner of ordinary television signals.
