    • A method for controlling a hybrid powertrain includes the following steps: receiving a torque request; determining a plurality of possible motor torques for the first and second electric machines capable of achieving the torque requested; determining system power losses of the powertrain for all the possible motor torques for the first and second electric machines capable of achieving the torque requested; determining a lowest power loss of the system power losses determined for the plurality of possible motor torques for the first and second electric machines; determining a first operating torque for the first electric machine and a second operating torque for the second electric machine that correspond with the lowest power loss; and commanding the first electric machine to generate the first operating torque and the second electric machine to generate the second operating torque in order to achieve the torque requested while minimizing the system power losses.

The vehicle also includes first and second lateral body sides disposed generally parallel to one another. The vehicle additionally includes first and second side panels mounted to the vehicle body and configured to selectively deploy into ambient airflow aft of the second body end to become positioned along the respective first and second lateral body sides and retract from the ambient airflow. The first and second side panels provide an active lengthening of the vehicle body aft of the second body end to thereby reduce aerodynamic drag when both side panels are deployed and positioned along the respective first and second lateral body sides.

    • A system includes a fluid pump, a hydraulic accumulator, and a controller. The controller calculates a reserve volume of the accumulator as a function of a component volume, leakage in the system, and a displacement of the pump, and executes a control action using the calculated reserve volume. The system may be a vehicle having input clutches and a dual clutch transmission (DCT) having gear forks. In such an embodiment, the accumulator and pump supply fluid pressure to the input clutches and gear forks in response to control signals from the controller. The controller executes a method that includes calculating the reserve volume of the accumulator as a function of a component volume, a volume of leakage in the system, and a displacement of the fluid pump. The method also includes executing a shift of the DCT using the calculated reserve volume.

    • A conveyor assembly is provided for movably supporting a tire of a vehicle. The conveyor assembly includes a track, a dolly, and a trapdoor assembly. The track is configured for supporting the tire of the vehicle. The track terminates at an edge, and a gap is defined beyond the edge. The dolly is configured to move along the track to the edge so as to guide the tire along the track to the edge. The trapdoor assembly is configured to substantially cover the gap when in a closed position and is movable to an open position to uncover the gap and allow the dolly to translate around the edge. The trapdoor assembly includes a device configured to prevent a human from inadvertently opening the trapdoor assembly.

    • A driveshaft assembly includes a driveshaft tube having two ends. An end fitting is operatively connected to one of the two ends of the driveshaft tube. A torque control mechanism is operatively connected to the end fitting. The torque control mechanism includes an outer member defining a first conical surface extending circumferentially relative to a central axis. The first conical surface is configured to be in contact with the second conical surface so as to transfer a torque load from the inner member to the outer member. The second conical surface is configured to rotate relative to the first conical surface along the central axis at a slip angle when the torque load exceeds a predefined maximum torque load.
