    • A system and method for determining a rotor time constant of an AC induction machine is disclosed. During operation of the induction motor, a flux signal is injected into a rotor flux command so as to generate a time-variant rotor flux. A voltage-current flux observer determines amplitudes of rotor flux variations resulting from the time-variant rotor flux, with the amplitudes of the rotor flux variations comprising an amplitude of a rotor flux variation based on a current model of the voltage-current flux observer and an amplitude of a rotor flux variation based on a combined voltage-current model of the voltage-current flux observer. A rotor time constant of the induction motor is then estimated based on the determined amplitudes of the rotor flux variations.

    • A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus includes an RF coil, a preamplifier module, and a hub coupled to the preamplifier module via a transmission line. The preamplifier module includes an amplifier configured to amplify a magnitude of a first signal from the RF coil, the first signal having a first frequency and a diode array coupled to the amplifier. The MRI apparatus also includes an intermediate frequency (IF) circuit coupled to the transmission line and an oscillator circuit coupled to the hub and configured to supply an oscillating signal to the diode array via the transmission line to cause the diode array to mix the oscillating signal with the first signal to generate an IF signal to be received by the IF circuit via the transmission line, wherein the IF signal has a second frequency that is lower than the first frequency.

    • A system and method for detecting excess voltage drop (EVD) in a three-phase electrical distribution circuit includes a diagnostic system comprising a processor that is programmed to receive three-phase voltages and currents provided to terminals of the electrical machine, determine fundamental components of the three-phase voltages and currents provided to the terminals, and compute positive, negative, and zero sequence currents from the fundamental components. The processor is also programmed to extract a compensated negative sequence current from the negative sequence current component, add the compensated negative sequence current to the positive sequence current to determine fault reference current phasors, determine a negative current reference phase angle for each phase based in part on a phase angle of the positive sequence current, and identify an EVD fault in the electrical distribution circuit based on the compensated negative sequence current, the fault reference current phasors, and the negative current reference phase angles.
