摘要： An apparatus for extruding a thermoplastic laminate has a nozzle assembly having a nozzle body centered generally on a plane and formed at the plane with a merge passage, with an outlet slot opening in one direction from the merge passage, with core-layer distribution and intake passages centered on the plane and opening in the opposite direction into the merge passage, and with cover-layer distribution and intake passages opening laterally into the merge passage. A core-layer fitting formed with tempering chambers forms part of the core-layer intake passage and a trimmings fitting mounted on the nozzle body has a trimmings intake passage and a trimmings feed passage extending therefrom to the cover-layer distribution passage. A liquefied core-layer resin is fed under pressure to the core-layer intake passage and therethrough to the merge passage and outlet slot. Laminate trimmings are also fed under pressure to the trimmings intake passage and therethrough and through the trimmings feed passage to the merge passage, and a liquefied cover-layer resin is fed under pressure to the cover-layer intake passage and therethrough to the merge passage and outlet slot and also to the trimmings feed passage to mix with the liquefied trimmings therein.

摘要： A card is provided for cleaning transducer heads of magnetically-encoded card reading machines. The card includes a surface region disposed for contacting such a transducer head and releasably holds a head cleaning solvent adjacent the surface region. The material forming the surface region may be visually distinguishable when it is holding solvent as compared to when it is not. Further, this material may be translucent when holding solvent. If so, the material immediately next to the solvent-holding material is a color which is visible through the material. Also, the card may have layers which are joined by heat-bonding. The side of the card opposite from the surface region then preferably is another color.

摘要： An extrusion apparatus including a die and a combining adaptor is provided. The combining adaptor is inserted in a cavity in the die. The extrusion apparatus includes flow channels, which converge in the proximity of a locus at which a layered melt stream formed by the convergence, is caused to diverge and flow transversely. The locus of divergence is within a manifold. As a result, the apparatus makes a laminate having layers of substantially uniform thickness without profiling of the layered melt stream. Also provided is a process for making the laminate without profiling. The invention lessens the curtaining effect in the layers of the laminate formed.
