摘要： A recording method is provided for a video tape recording apparatus having modes for recording PCM audio signals in a plurality of transmission rates. Index codes for a video signal, which enable a search reproduction and so on, are recorded on a video tape in a constant transmission rate irrespective of the transmission rate of a PCM audio signal to be recorded. Further, an amble pattern at the same frequency as the transmission rate of the PCM audio signal is recorded immediately behind the PCM signal recording area. A reproducing apparatus may be provided only with an index detecting circuit corresponding to the constant transmission rate.

摘要： A magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus is provided which includes a head structure compatible with a long-time play mode in handling either of two kinds of signals containing different amounts of information, such as a current digital picture signal and a high-definition (HD) digital picture signal in the rate of two to one at a constant number of revolutions of the drum by restricting an increase of the number of heads. In an aspect of the apparatus, four heads are arranged on the rotating drum equally 90.degree. spaced, a fifth head of an opposite azimuth is mounted close to any of those heads, the number of drum revolutions is increased to twice larger than the normal number, the current digital picture signal is recorded and reproduced for each channel by using two heads, that is, the fifth head and a head positioned 180.degree. opposite to the fifth head. On the other hand, the HD digital picture signal, containing twice as much information as the current digital picture signal, is recorded and reproduced for two channels by four heads equally 90.degree. spaced, exclusive of the fifth head. According to another aspect, eight heads are arranged on the rotating drum equally 45.degree. spaced, ninth and tenth heads of an opposite azimuth are mounted respectively close to any two heads 180.degree. opposite to each other, and the normal number of drum revolutions is used.

摘要： In a recording operation by a rotary head type PCM recording/reproducing apparatus including at least two magnetic heads, the odd-numbered sample data and the even-numbered sample data are discriminatively extracted and stored. The stored data corresponding to an amount of data outputted from the A/D converter within a predetermined time is selectively read out and supplied to the two heads to thereby record the data in such a manner that the odd-numbered data and the even-numbered data are recorded separately on a track basis or alternatively recorded separately on a preceding half and a succeeding half of each track. The error detecting and correcting code is prepared on the basis of the data to be recorded in each track. In reproduction of the recorded data, upon detection of a drop-out of the data from one of the two heads, the drop-out data is corrected through interpolation procedure to thereby reconstitute the original analog signal.

摘要： Error detection/correction codes appended to a recording signal for a PCM recorder are so arranged as to ensure detection and/or correction of a dropout or error of a data block address in the reproduction of the recording signal. In recording digital signals on a recording medium, the digital signals are formatted in n-word blocks, each block further including a sync signal for providing a reference timing for the reproduction of the signal, control data related to the digital signals, a data block address for identifying the block of n-words, an error detection code for detecting an error in the control data and the block address, and an error detection/correction code for error detection and/or correction for the block address and the n-words. A recording system includes an error detection/correction code generating circuit which generates error detection/correction codes using a Reed Solomon code or b-adjacent code. The generated error detection/correction codes are combined by a multiplexer so that a recording signal is arranged, and recorded on the recording medium.

摘要： A reproducing and amplifying circuit for a magnetoresistive head comprises an amplifying circuit with a feedback circuit. The head is part of the feedback circuit. Thus, the head is connectable with the feedback circuit so that the head is supplied with a drive current by the amplifying circuit and a reproduced electric signal outputted by the head is coupled to the amplifying circuit for amplification. A magnetoresistive element may be provided in the amplifying circuit to effect temperature compensation for the head. The reproducing and amplifying circuit is simple in structure, has an enhanced signal-to-noise ratio and is immune to temperature variation.
