    • An armature for an electromotive device having a unitary coil and armature is disclosed. The armature may include a coil having inner and outer winding portions separated by an insulator, each of the winding portions comprising a plurality of sheet metal conductors, and a commutator having a plurality of sheet metal commutator segments each being integrally formed with one of the conductors. In one embodiment of the armature, the commutator may have a smaller outside diameter than the outside diameter of the coil. In the same or different embodiment of the armature, the commutator segments may have a width greater than the width of the conductors. The armature may be fabricated from a pair of conductive sheets by forming in each of the conductive sheets a plurality of conductive bands each having first and second conductor portions, shaping the conductive sheets into inner and outer cylinders, positioning the inner cylindrical conductive sheet inside the outer cylindrical conductive sheet, forming a coil from the first conductor portions of the inner and outer cylindrical conductive sheets, and forming a commutator from the second conductor portions of the inner and outer cylindrical conductive sheets.

    • One embodiment of the invention relates to a low profile electric generator having a short axial length. A cylindrical rotor body defines an interior cavity and is coupled to a driveshaft along the axis of the cylindrical body. A first rotor assembly is coupled to the inner surface of the cylindrical body, the first rotor assembly defining a space to receive a first stator that is independent from the cylindrical body. A second rotor assembly is coupled to the outer surface of the cylindrical body and electrically coupled to the first rotor assembly. A second stator is arranged around the second rotor assembly, independent from the cylindrical body, and radially positioned about the axis of the cylindrical body. By arranging the generator components in such configuration, the axial length of the generator is reduced in comparison to a conventional generator.

    • A power device including a magneto and a rectification circuit for rectifying an output of the magneto is provided which is capable of adjusting an output of the magneto without any specific control circuit. A field adjusting excitation coil is arranged on a side of a stator of the magneto so as to generate a field adjusting magnetic flux when it is excited, resulting in a magnet field of the magneto being varied by means of the magnetic flux. The field adjusting excitation coil is connected to an intermediate portion of a current flow circuit for a load current, to thereby be excited by the load current, so that a magnet field of a rotor of the magneto is varied depending on the load current, leading to adjustment of an output of the magneto.

    • The invention relates to a rotor for an electric machine, specifically a transverse flow machine, comprising at least one support disk and at least one annular pole structure arranged on an end face of the support disk, coaxial to the rotor axis, and extending in axial direction. The pole structure comprises two adjacent rows, separated by an intermediate layer of magnetically and electrically nonconducting material (spacer ring), of the peripheral direction alternately magnetized magnet arrays with interposed collector or soft-iron elements. An end ring is coordinated with each pole structure. A plurality of magnet arrays features an inner and an outer magnet. The design of the collector or soft-iron elements adjoining a magnet array in the peripheral direction is such that they form in radial direction an inner stop and an outer stop for the magnet array.The invention is characterized in that an intermediate element is coordinated with a plurality of magnet arrays. The intermediate element is in a radial direction arranged between the inner and the outer magnet and extends beyond their axial length. The intermediate element is suited for insertion in mating grooves in the rings end ring, spacer ring and central support disk--adjoining the separate rows, of in peripheral direction having alternately magnetized magnet arrays with interposed collector or soft-iron elements.
