    • A packaging and a method for monitoring a packaging (10) of a disposable material in a chain of logistics. As an integral part of the packaging, the packaging has an electronic module (12) comprising electric energy supply means, data processing means, data storage nonvolatile memory means for storing information related to the packaging, time keeping means, and data transceiver means for transmitting and receiving said information in communication with a host computer (30). The electronic module also has sensor means (14, 20) for detecting a changed physical condition of the packaging and for signaling information representing said changed physical condition to the electronic module (12) to be stored in the memory means together with a notation of time from the time keeping means.

    • A tape seal includes electronic circuitry to detect tamper- and manipulation events relating to sealed items in various embodiments. A complex impedance is formed in a continuous seal. The seal is designed in such a way, that any attempt to break or remove the seal results in a change of the complex impedance. An electronic module in connection with the seal quantifies a complex impedance, and when a change is detected above a programmed threshold, this is treated as a tamper event. In one embodiment, the inclusion of reference impedances are applied to allow a more precise detection of a tamper event and allow for automatic calibration of natural variations of the complex impedance. In a further embodiment, a method of determining tampering with a sealed item is disclosed.

    • The invention concerns a secure data management device and a method for providing communication between a remote device in a chain of logistics and a host computer via a data network which ensures the identity, authenticity, integrity and confidentiality of collected information. This is provided by an item which is attached to a product subjected to a chain of logistics. The item can collect information about the product or use of the product and communicates such information to a host computer via a data network in a secure manner, which will assure the recipient of the information that the communication is made with the correct item and that the information communicated has not been manipulated and the transmission is protected from eavesdropping. The information collected by the item can be generated by sensors integrated or attached to the product.
