摘要： A method for the analysis, benchmarking, and finally improvement of communications pertaining to the field of public relations is described. The methodology is based on a massively quantitative approach suitable for numerical processing. Furthermore, it takes into account data outside the realm of communications and the press, such as a company's commercial and financial market performance to normalise the quantitative results and facilitate comparisons between competitors. Taking into account proprietary data such as the communication budget of a client the performance of the communications effort can be benchmarked objectively. Finally, the method offers the resulting key performance indicators to a wide audience within the client company in a “cock-pit” style manner.

The system and method allows an end-user to benefit from an experienced recommendation that is tailored to a specific industry. The system and method recognizes that the phrases “strike outs” and “home run” are much more strongly correlated with “BASE” as opposed to “EQUITIES.” When a search is conducted or a lookup is done in a map, the system and method recommends the strongest correlation as “BASE.”

The expansion sets of codes may also include different expansion paths through the hierarchical levels of indexing. The polyarchical codes may include multiple cross-categorization of the data across the same or different levels of categories. They may also include multiple expansion paths in different directions across hierarchical levels of categories or indexing.

The method may include providing a query profiler having a taxonomy database; receiving a query from a user; accessing the taxonomy database of the query profiler to identify a plurality of codes that are relevant to the query; augmenting the query using the codes to generate feedback information to the user for query refinement, the feedback information including a plurality of query terms associated with the query and to be selected by the user; presenting the feedback information to the user; receiving one of the query terms from the user; and identifying a source of the query term and presenting to the user. The system may include a query profiler having a taxonomy database to be accessed upon receiving a query from a user, which identifies a plurality of codes that are relevant to the query; means for augmenting the query using the codes to generate feedback information to the user for query refinement, the feedback information including a plurality of query terms associated with the query and to be selected by the user; and means for identifying a source of the query term, upon receiving one of the query terms from the user.
