摘要： A computer-implemented method is provided for managing and sharing picture files. In one embodiment of the present invention, the method comprises providing a server platform and providing a data store on the server platform for maintaining full resolution copies of the files shared between a plurality of sharing clients. A synchronization engine is provided on the server platform and is configured to send real-time updates to a plurality of sharing clients when at least one of the sharing clients updates or changes one of said files. A web interface may also be provided that allows a user to access files in the data store through the use of a web browser.

摘要： The present invention provides an opportunistic peer-to-peer synchronization method, where client devices can either synchronize with a peer device or a master server, depending on which is the best available option. Client devices monitor synchronization information provided by peer client devices to determine if data that the client device desires to synchronize can be synchronized with a peer client device. If a peer device is available for synchronization, then a client device will synchronize with such peer device. Otherwise, the client device will synchronize with the master server or other device. Client devices can seamlessly switch between peer-to-peer synchronization and client-server synchronization, even during the middle of synchronization session.
