    • Real time communication is discussed that may be initiated and maintained from within an web-based application without leaving the context of the underlying application. Within the web-based application, a web frame or portlet is displayed that can maintain a separate and independent communication channel with a data resource and other external resources. When activated by a user of the web application, the web frame or portlet establishes a communication link with an external resource and another party that will take part in a communication exchange. The interaction between the user and the other participant are displayed from within and/or processed by the web frame or portlet without affecting the state of the underlying web application.

    • Methods and apparatus provide for a Resolution Parameter Modifier. The Resolution Parameter Modifier detects a modification of a document resolution setting from a first resolution to a second resolution. The Resolution Parameter Modifier identifies a resolution dependent parameter(s) associated with a graphical effect(s) applied upon a graphical object(s) in a document, where the graphical object was previously converted from a vector-based object to a raster-based object. The resolution dependent parameter is defined to scale a visual result of the graphical effect with respect to a given document resolution. The Resolution Parameter Modifier updates the resolution dependent parameter in accordance with the second resolution. As the document is rendered at the second resolution, the Resolution Parameter Modifier re-executes the graphical effect on the graphical object in accordance with an updated resolution dependent parameter(s).

    • One illustrative embodiment involves executing one or more script-based libraries to serialize an object comprising content that is displayed on a web page in a web browser on a client device. The serialization comprises identifying a string representing raw bytes that identify the object. The embodiment also involves establishing a connection between the client device and a server device, wherein the connection is a full duplex communication channel for communication between the client device and the server device. The embodiment further involves sending, from the client device, the serialized object over the full duplex communication channel to the server device and receiving the serialized object from the server device. The serialized object from the server device is serialized according to the string representing raw bytes. The embodiment further involves deserializing the object from the server device.

    • In a distributed hash table overlay network, messages directed to a message ID are relayed to one or more nodes that have published interest in that message ID. Messages are distributed, processed, and/or cached in accordance with relay policies, which enable a wide variety of different applications. Nodes specify relay policies on a per-node, per-message, and/or per-message ID basis. Relay policies can specify any behavior associated with messages, including: message caching, distribution, and processing as well as migration of relay policies when nodes join or leave the network. Intermediate nodes can perform any arbitrary processing of messages based on relay policies. Intermediate nodes can offload processing to other nodes, either by forwarding messages to a different message ID or by enlisting the help of nodes subscribed to the message ID. Messages can include one or more subfields specifying commands and/or data to be evaluated by the intermediate node.
