    • A method includes receiving information identifying one or more elements to be presented in a first faceplate. The first faceplate is associated with control of a process system. The method also includes receiving information identifying an auto-selection behavior associated with the first faceplate. The method further includes displaying the first faceplate to an operator and automatically selecting one of the elements in the first faceplate based on the received information. A centralized component (like a faceplate controller) automatically selects elements in multiple faceplates, including the first faceplate. The centralized component could automatically select the element to receive focus in the first faceplate. The centralized component could also identify a specified element associated with a command to be executed, even when the specified element does not have focus in the first faceplate.

    • Methods (and semiconductor substrates produced therefrom) of fabricating (n−1) SDOI substrates using n wafers is described. A donor substrate (e.g., silicon) includes a buffer layer (e.g., SiGe) and a plurality of multi-layer stacks formed thereon having alternating stress (e.g., relaxed SiGe) and strain (e.g., silicon) layers. An insulator is disposed adjacent an outermost strained silicon layer. The outermost strained silicon layer and underlying relaxed SiGe layer is transferred to a handle substrate by conventional or known bonding and separation methods. The handle substrate is processed to remove the relaxed SiGe layer thereby producing an SDOI substrate for further use. The remaining donor substrate is processed to remove one or more layers to expose another strained silicon layer. Various processing steps are repeated to produce another SDOI substrate as well as a remaining donor substrate, and the steps may be repeated to produce n−1 SDOI substrates.

    • Deviations associated with a process system are identified, such as by identifying deviations of process variables or production measurements from target values. A graphical display is generated that identifies at least some of the deviations and one or more characteristics associated with the deviations. For example, the graphical display includes a time axis, and each deviation is associated with a bar positioned in the graphical display to identify a start time and an end time of the deviation along the time axis. Also, each bar may include one or more indicators (such as patterns, colors, or shadings) that identify the one or more characteristics (such as an economic impact and/or a cause) of each deviation identified in the graphical display. In this way, a user can, among other things, identify when deviations from target values occur, durations of the deviations, and economic impacts and/or causes associated with the deviations.

    • At least one model is associated with one or more manipulated variables and one or more controlled variables, which are associated with a cascade liquefied natural gas facility. Adjustments to the one or more manipulated variables are made using the at least one model to maintain the one or more controlled variables within defined limits. For example, a controlled variable may identify an overall load placed on multiple refrigeration systems in the facility. The one or more manipulated variables may be adjusted to increase the overall load placed on the refrigeration systems. The overall load can be determined by identifying a maximum of: a projected feed gas rate to operate a propane refrigeration system at maximum load, a projected feed gas rate to operate an ethylene or ethane refrigeration system at maximum load, and a projected feed gas rate to operate a methane refrigeration system at maximum load.

    • A system and method for analyzing smoke or other emissions are provided. An image is analyzed and processed to identify characteristics associated with the emission, such as color, densities, dispersion rates, fuel mixture characteristics, and other suitable analysis factors. If the analysis indicates that abnormal conditions exist or that any user-defined alerts are warranted, a message is sent to an operator terminal. The system and method may continue to capture subsequent images and thus provide real-time data. The data may be stored in memory and collected over time. The data may be associated with a digital signature and used to create reports for company quality control boards, regulatory control agencies, and the public. The system and method thus provide a cost effective, reliable, and repeatable mechanism for real-time analysis of smoke stacks and other environmental changes.
