摘要： Methods of encoding and decoding for video data are described for encoding or decoding multi-level significance maps. Distinct context sets may be used for encoding the significant-coefficient flags in different regions of the transform unit. In a fixed case, the regions are defined by coefficient group borders. In one example, the upper-left coefficient group is a first region and the other coefficient groups are a second region. In a dynamic case, the regions are defined by coefficient group borders, but the encoder and decoder dynamically determine in which region each coefficient group belongs. Coefficient groups may be assigned to one region or another based on, for example, whether their respective significant-coefficient-group flags were inferred or not.

摘要： A system and method are disclosed for managing the wireless delivery of streaming media content to a user equipment (UE) device. A UE device establishes a network connection with a local wireless network, which in turn is associated with a wireless network region with a corresponding data infrastructure server. The UE device then requests predetermined streaming media content from the data infrastructure server. A determination is made whether the requested streaming media content is stored in transcoded form on the data infrastructure server. If so, then a control information network is implemented to transmit and receive streaming media content control data between the UE device and the data infrastructure server. In turn, the streaming media content control data is used by the data infrastructure server to control the transmission of the transcoded streaming media content over a data network for delivery to the UE device.

A method for reconstructing a quantization parameter for a current block includes predicting the quantization parameter, wherein predicting the quantization parameter is based upon a previous quantization parameter used for a neighboring block in the image, an estimated AC energy of the neighboring block, and an estimated AC energy of the current block; decoding from the bitstream a quantization parameter residual; and deriving the quantization parameter from the predicted quantization parameter and the quantization parameter residual. The method may include reconstructing the pixels of the current block, including dequantizing decoded quantized transform domain coefficients based on the quantization parameter.

摘要： To support encoding a control circuit determines a primary prediction mode to employ when encoding a block of video data and then determines a corresponding companion prediction mode to correspond to the primary prediction mode. The control circuit can then generate a mixed prediction for the block of video data by mixing a prediction formed using the primary prediction mode with a prediction formed using the companion prediction mode. By one approach the control circuit determines the corresponding companion prediction mode by accessing a companion prediction mode lookup table. In such a case, if desired, upon generating the mixed prediction for the block of video data the control circuit can also automatically update the companion prediction mode lookup table. By one approach a corresponding decoder infers the employed companion prediction mode (or modes).
