摘要： A power supply that operates in two modes comprising input terminals for connection to an AC source, output terminals for connection to a load, an AC-to-DC stage, and a battery. When operating in the first mode, the load draws current from the battery only. When operating in the second mode, the load draws current from both the battery and the AC-to-DC stage. The current drawn by the load is then greater than the current output by the AC-to-DC stage during first periods, and is less than the current output by the AC-to-DC stage during second periods. The load draws current from the battery and the AC-to-DC stage during the first periods such that the battery discharges, and the load and the battery each draw current from the AC-to-DC stage during the second periods such that the battery charges.

摘要： A pump assembly for a dental cleaning appliance includes a positive displacement pump including a fluid chamber and a fluid displacement member which is moveable in a linear direction relative to the fluid chamber, and a drive for actuating the pump to draw fluid into the fluid chamber through a fluid inlet. An energy storage device converts kinetic energy generated during actuation of the pump by the drive into potential energy, and stores the potential energy. A cam is connected to the drive for rotation relative to the fluid displacement member. The cam has a ramp extending about the fluid displacement member which is engaged by a cam follower connected to the fluid displacement member. As the cam moves relative to the fluid displacement member, the cam follower moves along the ramp to actuate the pump to draw fluid into the fluid chamber, and beyond the end of the ramp to enable the energy storage device to use the stored potential energy to actuate the pump to urge fluid from the fluid chamber.

摘要： A method including providing, on a substrate, first and second stacks for an energy storage device with a groove therebetween is provided. The first and second stacks each, respectively, include a first electrode layer on the substrate, an electrolyte layer on the first electrode layer, and a second electrode layer on the electrolyte layer. A first material is deposited within the groove and a second material is deposited over the first stack, the first material and the second stack to electrically connect the second electrode layers of the first and second stacks, via the second material. The first material prevents the second material from contacting the first electrode layer of the first and second stacks and the electrolyte layer of the first and second stacks, to electrically insulate the first electrode layer of the first and second stacks and the electrolyte layer of the first and second stacks from the second material.
