    • A system for 2-way data and voice communication with a user A base station in communicates with a response center. A portable device has a cellular transceiver module, a GPS module and an emergency call button, and is in two-way communication with a response center for communicating the location of the portable device to the response center in response to activation of the emergency call button. A wearable pendant has a panic button, and outputs a signal in response to activation of the panic button. The portable device receives the signal and contacts the response center in response to the signal when the portable device is not in proximity to the base station; and the base station receives the signal and the base station communicates with the response center when the portable device is in proximity of the base station.

    • A method of two-way data and voice communication with a user utilizing a portable device having a cellular transceiver module, GPS module, an emergency call button, and a base station comprising the steps of storing a first user profile and at least a second user profile. The user profile includes a user identification, a contact person and a first location data, storing a second user profile having at least a second contact person and a second location data, powering the GPS module. The user profile collecting GPS location data from the GPS module and storing location into a memory location, causing at least one of the portable device and said base station to communicate with a response center and transmitting the GPS location data to the response center. The response center selecting a response as a function of the GPS location data, first location data, and second location data.

    • The computerized system provides a method to track Alzheimer's patients and other diseases that affect the patient's ability to contact and communicate their location or vital information to their caregivers. The system applies an electronic tag to each patient of a multiplicity of patients or only to non-confined patients and employs a computer to maintain information about their location and well being. Use is made of a global positioning system to locate a lost patient as well as to track movements of the patient. A history of the movement of the patient may also be plotted on a map. Additional components of the tag gather and relay information about the patient's condition and other environmental data. In addition, the use of a an additional external transmitter keeps the wearable tag in a low power “sleep” mode when it is in range, preserving the internal battery and only consuming power when the tag moves out of range of the external transmitter.

    • A monitoring system of the present disclosure has at least one monitor that collects personal health data, stores the personal health data in memory, and transmits at least one data packet comprising the personal health data and at least one identifier for identifying the monitor and a gateway computing device communicatively coupled to the at least one monitor and communicatively coupled to a network, the gateway computing device receives from the monitor the at least one data packet and transmits the at least one data packet over the network. In addition, the monitoring system has a server computing device communicatively coupled to the network, the server computing device receives from the gateway computing device the data packet and stores the data packet in memory associated with a user identifier.

    • A method of 2-way data and voice communication with a user utilizing a portable device having a cellular transceiver module, a GPS module and an emergency call button is disclosed. The method includes determining whether the portable device is in proximity of the base station; powering down the GPS, placing the portable device into sleep mode and sending a signal to the base station indicating that said portable device is in proximity of the base station when the portable device is in proximity to the base station; and activating and fully powering the cellular transceiver module and activating and fully powering said GPS module when the portable device is not in proximity of said base station. When not in proximity, the method also includes collecting an initial GPS location data from the GPS module and storing the location data into a memory location; placing the GPS module into a lower power mode and fully powering the GPS module, acquiring and storing additional GPS location data only at specified intervals to conserve battery life while monitoring the cellular transceiver module for inquiries and monitoring the emergency call button for an emergency signal. Various other steps occur when the emergency button is depressed.
