摘要： A multi-mode ring scanner (MMRS) has a ring unit for wearing on a finger. The MMRS optionally has a wrist unit coupled to the ring unit, such as via a cable. The MMRS optionally communicates wirelessly with a computing device. The ring unit has one or more scanners (such as an optical scanner or an RFID tag reader). The ring unit optionally has two paddle switches for activation by inward pressure from fingers adjacent to the finger. The two switches enable specifying operation of the MMRS in a plurality of modes and/or to communicate a plurality of information codes to the computing device. The computing device is optionally enabled to assign a function to each combination of activation of the two switches. A scanning system including the MMRS optionally provides feedback to a user based on feedback from a host processor.

摘要： Increased confidence in, and acceptance of, cordless hand-held scanners may be obtained through a cordless hand-held scanner with improved user feedback. In an illustrative embodiment, the state of one or more indicators is changed as a result of feedback from a coupled host processor. The indicators are set to a first (or pending) state when a scan is performed, and remain in the first state up until the time the host feedback is received. The indicators are set to a second (or successful) state if the feedback indicates the host successfully received the scan data. The indicators are set to a third (or failure) state if the feedback indicates the host failed to properly receive the scan data. Obtaining timely confirmation that the host processor has received the scan successfully leads to increased confidence in, and acceptance of, the cordless hand-held scanner.

摘要： A wireless adapter combined with a conventional hand scanner, forms a wireless hand scanner combination. The wireless adapter captures the hand scanner via a retention mechanism. A plug is mounted within the wireless adapter, such that the plug mates with a receptacle of the hand scanner at the same time that the hand scanner is captured by the wireless adapter. The wireless adapter further includes Control, I/O, and Power Circuitry, a Wireless Module, a Battery, and one or more indicator(s). The Control, I/O, and Power Circuitry is adapted to communicate with the scan electronics of the hand scanner via a conventional industry standard I/O interface. These communications are conveyed to a computing host via the Wireless Module, which is adapted to be compatible with at least one wireless industry standard, including such wireless standards as Bluetooth, WiFi, UWB, and Zigbee. The indicator(s) is (are) adapted to provide scan feedback to the operator via at least one of auditory or visual means.

摘要： A wireless-enabled memory module provides host devices access to a memory via a standard memory expansion interface and further incorporates embedded processing capability and a wireless network capability. The wireless-enabled memory module can be used in any host device providing a compatible memory card controller and interface. Host devices so equipped become wireless-memory enabled devices and can provide memory access to any other remote device enabled for compatible wireless communications. It is thereby possible for a remote device to access the memory content of the memory module, and cause transfers of either full-size or scaled versions of the content to the remote device through a first network, and optionally further transfer the content from the remote device through a second network to the Internet in the form of an e-mail message or MMS attachment.

摘要： A peripheral device at startup selectively activates one of a plurality of connection profiles for low-energy communication with a central device. The profiles determine the behavior of the peripheral device as viewed by the central device, such as a selected one of a HID, a Reader/Scanner, and a PC/SC-like device. The activated profile is selected based on connection profile state maintained across power cycle events and in view of special button combination events at startup. According to embodiment, the profile can also be selected (in conjunction with a reboot) as commanded under select circumstances by an application running on the central device or based on the peripheral reading a configuration card. According to embodiment, the activated profile corresponds to selected sub-portions of a unified database file of the peripheral device. The unified database includes profile components enabling activation of a selected one a plurality of low-energy communication profiles.
