摘要： An expandable play set as well as associated methods, communication protocols, and tangible computer-readable media are disclosed. The play set may generate interactive responses based upon which characters are coupled to a base unit and to which connectors of the base unit the characters are coupled. A character may include circuitry that permits the character to identify to which connector of the base unit the character is coupled. Such circuitry may also permit the character to identify and communicate with other characters that are also coupled to the base unit. Based upon obtained identifiers, the character may generate or otherwise cause suitable interactive responses such as activating a load in the base unit, turning on a light in the base unit and/or character, and/or generating a suitable audible response via an audio speaker of the character.

The drawing toy may comprise a stylus having a tip, a drawing surface configured to produce a visual path that follows a path of the tip along the drawing surface, and a plurality of stencils, each stencil comprising a plurality of designated areas and a plurality of trace paths. A controller of the drawing toy may identify a stencil placed upon the drawing surface, determine that a particular designated area of the placed stencil is proximate the stylus tip, and generate an output signal configured to cause a user perceivable output associated with the particular designated area determined to be proximate the stylus tip.

An electronic tablet device may include a display, touch sensor, a motion sensor, controller and speaker. The motion sensor may generate input signals indicative of a spatial movement of the electronic tablet device. The controller may receive the input signals and generate output signals that move a drawing tool across a canvas of the display based on the spatial movement of the electronic device. The output signals may further update the canvas to reflect an effect of moving the drawing tool across the canvas per the tilting movement.

The controller assembly includes a first user input device, such as a joystick, and a second user input device, such as a pushbutton switch. The controller assembly, carried by the housing of the apparatus, is rotatable between a first position and a second position. When the controller assembly is in the first position, they joystick is accessible on the exterior surface of the apparatus, while the pushbutton switch is concealed within the housing and inhibited from use. When the controller is rotated to the second position, the pushbutton switch is accessible on the exterior surface of the apparatus, while the joystick is concealed within the housing and inhibited from use. The inclusion of two such multi-function, repositionable controller assemblies, on opposing sides of the apparatus, allows the apparatus to be rapidly configured by the user for left-handed or right-handed operation.
