摘要： A chair support shell has an integral back portion, seat portion, and joining portion between the back portion and the seat portion. At least a major portion of the support shell comprises a compliant structure, the compliant structure having a plurality of cells interconnected by a plurality of resilient members. The compliant structure provides compliance in the seat portion, compliance in the back portion, and compliance in the joining portion. The compliant structure enables recline of the back portion relative to the seat portion.

摘要： A system, mechanisms, and components for converting the interior of a vehicle into a sleeping space is disclosed. The vehicle may have front seats with modular back supports that can transform to reduce the seat height so that the back support can recline horizontally backwards and lay flat with the bottom support of the rear seat. The modular back support may have an upper section and a lower section, where the upper section may fold or retract inside the lower section. Additionally, the headrest of the front seat may also retract inside the modular back support to reduce the seat height. The mid-section of the vehicle where the center console and armrest are located may also transform to create a continuous flat surface inside the vehicle.

摘要： A wall-proximity reclining seating unit includes: a frame having a back member and a pair of arms, the back member being fixed relative to and extending between the arms; a backrest; a seat; a footrest; a reclining mechanism connected between the frame, backrest, seat, and footrest comprising a series of pivotally interconnected links that move the seating unit between: (a) an upright position, in which the footrest is retracted below a forward portion of the seat and faces generally downwardly and defines an angle of between about 20 and 40 degrees with the underlying surface, (b) a TV position, in which the footrest is extended in front of the seat and is generally horizontally disposed, and the seat and backrest are moved forwardly relative to the frame between about 2.5 and 4 inches; and (c) a fully reclined position, in which the backrest is disposed at an angle shallower than the first backrest angle, the footrest remains extended in front of the seat, and the seat is moved forward of its position in the TV position between about 4 and 7 inches. A power actuator coupled to the reclining mechanism drives the backrest, seat and footrest between the upright, TV and fully reclined positions.

摘要： A method and apparatus include attaching a lighted cup holder to a seating arrangement. The lighted cup holder includes a cup holder body and a light-producing light source, with the cup holder body being attached to the seating arrangement and having a cup receptacle therein, the light-producing source being disposed within the cup receptacle for illuminating the receptacle. A light-sensitive element operatively connected to the light source selectively controls production of light by the light source in such a manner that illumination of the cup holder is provided only under conditions where visibility is reduced to the point that it becomes difficult to locate the cup holder. The light-sensitive element is mounted on a master lighted cup holder and controls illumination of the master lighted cup holder and one or more slave lighted cup holders operatively connected to the master lighted cup holder.

The arm rest forms and backrest forms may be reinforced with metal plates and assembled into a recliner. The backrest form may have legs with kd brackets secured thereto by clamping onto the portions of the legs of the backrest forms. The connections to the backrest form and arm rest forms providing a geometrically rigid and robust frame that is weighs less, is quicker to assemble, and is more robust that conventional wood frame recliners.
