摘要： The present invention relates to a multiple-use intravenous (IV) catheter assembly septum and septum actuator. In particular, the present invention relates to an IV catheter assembly having a stationary septum actuator and a blood control septum, wherein the blood control septum is configured to slide within a catheter adapter of the IV catheter assembly between a compressed state and an uncompressed state. When in the compressed state, a slit of the blood control septum is opened and the septum comprises stored compressive potential energy. When the septum is released from the compressed state, the stored compressive potential energy is release and the blood control septum is restored to its original shape, thereby closing the septum's slit.

摘要： Disclosed is septum arrangement having a pierceable septum. The pierceable septum has first and second surfaces positioned opposite to one another and a peripheral surface. A compression element has at least two compression members that partially or fully surround the peripheral surface and has at least two gripping members. Each compression member is connected to at least one gripping member, and the gripping members extend from the compression members towards a common axis (A) which intersects the first surface. A resilient element exerts a biasing force on the pierceable septum that is directed towards the common axis (A). The gripping members define an aperture between them such that introduction of a needle into the aperture exerts a force on the gripping members that counteracts the biasing force and moves the gripping members apart from each other.

Such fluid pathway connections may be integrated into a drug container having a barrel and a plunger seal. 摘要： A sealed fluid transfer device comprised of tubing, a proximal fitting, and a distal needle assembly is provided. The needle assembly includes a needle hub secured to a needle cannula. A cantilevered actuator arm extends outwardly from the needle hub having an actuator button at its free end. The needle assembly is disposed in a barrel and can move from a distal position, where the needle is exposed, to a proximal position, where the needle is shielded. The barrel includes a septum which seals the barrel. A spring is disposed in the barrel for propelling the needle assembly to the proximal position. The barrel includes an aperture that receives the actuator button for locking the spring in a compressed condition. Depression of the actuator button enables the spring to propel the needle assembly into its proximal position. A safety mechanism prevents inadvertent depression of the actuator button.
